Well you can tell it's a proper rework when it takes years longer than estimated, the 1st release has 1% of the original's functionality and the new features are, at best, a step sideways. But hey, that lawnmower everyone complained about is fixed.

And you're underestimating how much impact this site has to coomers. This isn't 2016 where F95 is some literal who website in the corner of the internet, it's a big site known to even obscure Japanese devs at this point. I'm sure DC himself doesn't give a shit, the man has a established patreon base who gives him his monthly free paycheck. But optics is important, if someone looks up Summertime Saga chances are they'll end here and when the see that "abandoned" tag their interest will drop. It's happened to every other game on this site with that tag, SS isn't immune to it.

Honestly, I think the only reason it got the "Abandoned" tag is to stop people from crying all the time. I don't think it's going to be a big blow to them. Just because people keep writing it over and over again, it's not going to change things.

But I'm hoping you're right and DC will get off their asses and actually add content to the game

no, the reason is because there's no update for 18 months. it's not arbitrary at all.

The 18 months only apply for devs who are otherwise active, like DC who is releasing regular status updates and is streaming several times a week. Games will get that tag much sooner if a dev just stops posting anything and goes quiet.

F95 is where many devs also post their games cus it tends to funnel more supporters to their patreon.
Summertime saga owes a lot of its success from being on this website due to it being shown to a lot more eyes due to it.

I personally think it's a combination of Patreons complaining and the tag
DC most likely won't care a lot about the tag but it wouldn't be ridiculous to think he kind of cares about the tag.
Like another user said, someone will see the tag and have less interest in subscribing
or the potential of word spreading that one of the biggest 2D porn games is now abandoned

I'm not saying the tag has too much power but it can affect the amount of new subs.
But his Patreons starting to get impatient (rightfully so) woke them up.

Yes , but that is what im trying to say. It has pass two years without updates not only in f95, so, they might be motivated to do something to change
