I certainly do have empathy for scam victims. What I have no empathy for is a) people whining about a game they probably haven't paid anything for (please note the usage of the word "probably") and b) when said whiners have shown zero empathy for scam victims.

Now for something for you to try: comprehend that not every question or comment on the internet is an attack against yourself.
A lot of people don't get that when you see people doing something you think is not in their best interest, calling them idiots or other names is not the best method to get them around to your way of thinking, you yourself are an idiot and flying off the handle emotionally. You get people around to your way of thinking by being diplomatic.

I also think people greatly overestimate how many people support this greedy bastard out of loyalty, sure there are some, but the vast majority would fall into people who played this, went through it during it's peak and supported, and haven't gotten around to cancelling, many have probably forgotten.

There is a reason so many companies push for subscription, almost everyone has some subscription that they would cancel right now if it was simply a matter of willing it including myself, subscriptions happen out of mind.

So let me get this right, they released an update with no new content sorta say and yet removed content, so why even release a version like this if the suppose content only dropping in january if not delayed, it makes no sense, this really shows the level of professionalism and leadership of this team.
After he got abandonned tag, many subs gone, so he released no content updated, simply for not getting that tag

I understand this game was pretty much done a long time ago, one of the best I ever played
I remember spending hours in the past playing Akabur games and then I found summertime saga and I was blowed away
I named the characters based on my girlfriend's family and it was amazing
It is still going I see
I always felt like adding more scenes with the mom and the sis would be nice
But I also liked the milfs and girlfriends options that he added

I think if the dev wants to continue his game for eternity, he is on his right
But you are in your every right to cancel a subscription if you think it is no longer worthy
You can even express your frustation

But getting mad that others are still paying for it only because you feel it is no longer worthy seems stupid
For whatever reason they are still paying, you want to say game is not going well lately, say it, you want to say you are not going to support it anymore, say it, but continuing attacking the dev for not doing what YOU want and others for not minding it as you do, seems stupid

If the art is ready then why not release it? Pardon my ignorance friend im only trying to understand
There is posing and coding and other aspects involved with creating a VN/game to have the art in the game. While there is art completed, the other parts might not.

Thanks for your reply:

Yeah, alright, 10 people.
Now, they have 1,5,10 and 20$ stuff. So, without cuts, they're probably making AT LEAST 60k/month.Now we can "add" all this stuff you mentioned, and even with this it's safe to say they have at least 30k/month clean. Probably more, but fine, 30k it is.
So, each fella getting his fare share of... 36k/year. Yeah, it's not that much, at least for US and EU, but still good enough.
And, as you said, it's a team of 10 PEOPLE. TEN, CARL! And even if this is not their full time job (but should be really close), they literally spend last 3-4 months for a few QoL fixes, few bugfixes, very few new arts and few !restored! events. So... practically almost nothing really new. 10 people. 36+k/year. Each. And we have this.
Alright, I see we’re going full detective mode here. You’ve got spreadsheets out, calculators smoking, and a burning desire to crack the mystery of this dev team’s productivity. Respect the hustle, but let’s unpack this ?unexpected chess move? from you about those probably-not-made-up numbers from the last guy and let’s work with those Bill Gates sized projections.

First off, yeah, $30k/month net sounds like a lot when you say it out loud. But divide that across 10 people, throw in taxes, operating costs, and other expenses, and suddenly it’s not looking so huge. Sure, let’s say each dev is pulling in about $36k/year, but let’s not pretend they’re Scrooge McDuck diving into a vault of Patreon cash. This is indie dev life, not Silicon Valley riches. If they’re feeling fancy, maybe they splurge on a trip to IKEA once a year.

Now, onto the “nothing really new” argument. I get it—you’re staring at the Patreon numbers and expecting a steady stream of groundbreaking updates. But creative work doesn’t scale like an assembly line. You don’t get 10 people = 10 times the output. It’s more like 10 people = 10 times the coordination headaches. QoL fixes and restored events might not be the spicy new content you’re craving, but they’re laying the groundwork. Would you rather have a shiny new feature that crashes your game randomly, with a Crime and Punishment book-long changelog that’s an absolute nothing burger, like in School Game, or a stable game that actually runs?

Yeah, they’re making enough to live on, but it’s not the ridiculous payday you’re imagining. They’re able to eat ramen with coffee every day—true luxury. Patience is key, my dudeyou shouted Carl like you were ready to start wrestling with me. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was your beloved Waifu City. It's Summertime "Saga" not long story short

remember waiting 3/4 months for an update, but it was worth the wait, playing hours to get the content... Now waiting years for an update with 0 content... u guys are really cows for DC, he is just milking you and you continue to give him what he wants.

If every subscriber show respect for themselves and cancel it at least a month he will see that he must do something, but since you are okay with this, he will keep doing this kind of shi* .

I don't know trough how many mental hoops you have to jump to justify the amount of work that has been delivered in their time span.

This isn't rocket science it's a renpy game. And most of the assets have been directly ported from the old game with some expansions here and there.

I'm not going to argue whether they are rolling in cash or are living on ramen an coffee like you said because for me that's irrelevant. I'm looking at the amount of time they had and what's being delivered and it's so sub par that they are either stringing people along/scamming or they are completely incompetent.

It's either the one or the other take your pick.

Is scam the right word to use? I don't know, but it sure does feel shady as fuck.
A hustle. A pretty good one at that. Hence why I always say 'you gotta respect the hustle' since we're technically no better, being pirates and all. Feels kinda hollow to do any moral grandstanding from the pov of one criminal to another (pirating is, after all, still a crime).

Every update invites criticism, you need to accept that, the dev works on what is the most well known games in the adult community and many in that community feel a disgust for what it represents, anyone knew should know what they are getting into, if this thread was left to nothing but those that are somehow still happy with the progress and shills, then they would not be aware of how fucking lazy the dev is. That there are other dev's that are worth supporting, that they aren't all like this.

I understand this game was pretty much done a long time ago,
NOT IN THE LEAST

A LOT of content was still missing when he started the tech update:

1) A lot of characters he introduced in the very early updates (0.1, 0.2) that STILL have no storyline/content:

- Judith
- Annie
- the principal
- Rhonda
- gym teacher
- the librarian
- the swimming pool lifeguard
- latina duo
- sex shop girl
- yoga girl (Anne?)

2) Mia's story needs more content: her quest was in fact her mom's quest;

3) same with Mrs Johnson's story (which was Erik's mom before Patreon said no to incest): it needs more content;

4) we were promised Diane's story rework (MC's aunt in fact) but it never happened;

5) WE NEVER HAD the promenade ballroom event at the end of summer + dating system (MC is supposed to date every girl he screws).

We were promised all of this BUT we had tech update, pointless random mafia side chicks, korean dictators and the Rump family.

Well, FUCK IT.

You seemed to have missed that they were in a conversation with someone who responded to THEIR initial post.

And, to your point, "did anybody ask what you think?"

people still defending this are brain dead. of the content in the pre tech update build, 90% of it was done in about a year and 1/2. so 18 months to get basically everything it would get content wise. then 5 years of "tech update" later and there is less content. and if you track the patreons only over time since the tech update first got floated, this game has made around 5 million dollars. (i should note that this is the conservative estimate asuming every patron only donate 1$ meaning at least 5 million, but probably more) thats give or take 1 million a year to do pretty much nothing. there are other games out there with only a single dev no team, that can (and did) produce multiple games in that time, and they didnt need 5 million dollars to do it. he was given that 5 million with the expectation that it would contribute to the completion of this game, but it clearly did not, that is definitionally fraud. thus scammer.

dont get me wrong though, i have great respect for dark cookie. i only wish i was smart enough to find a way to make 5 million by doing almost nothing for 5 years, and clearly hes going on to make even more with the like of that count and notimportante shilling for him. its rather brilliant really. if only i could be so amazing as to have a cult following like that defending me for taking 5 million from people and give nothing back. truly the greatest scammer of this era. ive no doubt that in a few more years and a few more million people will stop referring to patreon milk scams as milk scams but instead "darkcookie schemes" or perhaps a "milk and cookie scam" putting his name up there with other legends of the craft like Charles Ponzi inventor of the Ponzi scheme.
