I doubt his apology over the delay. If a developer knows it is taking longer than previously thought, change the payment over to per update not per month. That he didn't, that he will take in nearly $100,000 for this update and that some of the delays were predictable (and avoidable) suggests that he's less than sincere.
No doubt his sycophants and white knights will attack this, but everything that has delayed it this month could be avoided by better project management, by sharing draft sketches with the posers and the coders while art assets are completed, by just being prepared for Patreon to slam their anti-incest hammer down (which wasn't a shock). If the way they work necessitates a long production cycle, charge by update. This monthly billing cycle just means they can rake in about $300,000 a year for 3 updates because now it's happened once watch it happen again, and again. For comparison, the President's salary is $400,000.
