Game was build on the incest theme. The whole premise was about it. But let's take a look at all the characters with introductory scenes only:

Judith
Latino twins
Gym teach
Thin friend of Roxy
Yoga instuctor
Lifeguard girl
Black girl who swims
And I am sure many others I've forgot

And there is no ending for any of the other already established characters either. Mia, Diane, Debbie, Jenny, Erik's mother, Roxy, her friends. They are all just like in stasis with no clear end in sight.

The game is only about half-way done simply by virtue of tying off lose ends. Even if none of the characters receive much expansion on their routes there are simply too many questions left unanswered.

Then there is a new storyline about pregnancy lab or smth. That needs it time in the spotlight too.

When did this game start development, 2016? Almost 7 years in development?

My most hopeful prognosis is another 3-4 years. Long enough to celebrate it's first decade.

I fail to see how any of that has anything to do with anything. Wincest got nuked 5 years ago from Patreon, crying about it won't help. All the girls you listed are either planned after the tech build or need to win a poll for their remake. All of this was known 2 years ago when they started the tech update. So once more, where are you going with that post ? Unless you missed the last 5+ years of comments or never played the game and ignored the streams, everything should be basic knowledge at this point

Judith : 3rd planned route after tech
Gym teacher : needs to win a poll with the other teachers for a preg remake/update
Friend of Roxxy (aka Missy) : didn't win the poll to have scene(s) in the batches, will have to wait for Roxxy's preg remake/poll
Yoga : 3rd grade girl who'll maybe get something in Erik's remake
Lifeguard : goes with R(h)onda's update, right after the tech build (and probably 6+ months)

Diane : route is mostly done, she might get another remake (her 4th so far) to nuke the barn and get house back

Nope, don't read the forum besides chatting shit from time to time, didn't watch streams either. After my first year patroned, I played the game twice I think. Once before quarantine and the last time few months ago. But I think that's how people normally interact with the game and on this forum.

I am just noting in general how bloated the game had become and how far outside of it's premise it veered. A ren'py porn game taking a decade to end it's development is really too much.

P.S. at this point does Patreon ban even do anything with patches and stuff? I would imagine half the games here would not have existed if it did. Summertime Saga would not be able skirt around the issue with "but we haven't added pseudo-incest in the last 5 years" either, since it already has plenty.

As far as I know, there indeed was gay content in discussion. But I don't know what became of it. The answer to Eve´s question is currently one of the prerequisites for having the option to make Eve being trans. Later, in the course of her route, at a decisive moment, when you see her in underwear for the first time, there will be the decision whether there is a pussy or a penis to be seen. So don't worry, you can't stumble into the trans content

That's what I've been saying, DC keeps bloating the game and perpetuates development, doesn't necessarily mean he's doing it to milk, but adding loose ends on the pile of unfinished content is noteworthy.

That's certainly different compared to dudes who just release their stuff now and have never been caught in the first place. They'd get a second chance, DC probably wouldn't.

I know, I'm not arguing he should add the incest itself back in, I'm saying the incest-ban has nothing to do with what the OP said. As long as there are incest patches outside of the official game, Patreon doesn't have a reason to ban or penalize DC, otherwise he would've been banned already because there's obvious incest in the game guised only by "they're actually friends and totally not related at all".

The family are the first characters you interact with, they're the first characters to have had any lewd content when polling wasn't even a thing, the intro of the game pretty much states you have to be the man of the house because your father died and also get a prom date, the main quest revolves around finding out what happened to your dad who is family and is obviously related to Jenny and married to Debbie, IIRC Diane was the first to get a dedicated quest.

Sure, they were never meant to be the main focus of the game, but you can't say they don't play a fundamental role in the game.

Yeah, as you say, I wouldn't even call it a lack of incest content in the first place. The game by now has the amount of incest content it is supposed to have. Jenny's content is just done, while Debbie will get a rework and pregnancy and Diane is supposed to get a few additions here and there.

To me it's really not such a big issue. Sure, the main story added too many of these characters, but it's not like they take thaaat much screen time and the main story updates certainly needed some girls. I doubt people would have been happy if DC had spent months of time on releasing an update that would have consisted of Raz, Dimitri, Igor and Jab.
These secondary/tertiary charaters are hard to judge in general, but I think game would be worse off if we didn't have characters like Odette, Liu, Tina, Maria, etc.

It's a fine line to walk and at least the main story certainly got closure, now that DC added the final scenes in these pre-tech updates and I think those who play the game in the future, won't mind them, either. They are honestly only "bad" for those who suffer now, because it takes time to finish the game.

The point I wanted to make is, that SS was never advertised as some kind of real incest game. So it's not like DC promised to develop something like SnowDaze, where MC fucks his family and that's it and ended up producing something entirely different. The game we get now is essentially what DC promised we'd get.

I mean, MC is a school boy who lives at home with his family, so it makes sense that this is where the game starts. Sure, it did play a (significant) role at first, but that doesn't mean that DC had to change his plans for the game, just because people liked some of these characters a lot at first. Jenny, Debbie are simply 2 among 8 main girls, while Diane is a strong secondary character like Maria, Mrs. Johnson, etc.

I would have loved it more if ideas, scenarios and set pieces from those character routes were used in a completely separate game. For example I would have loved to see Odette as one of the main characters in supernatural college life type of story. But that's mostly cuz I liked the character and wanted to see more of her.

IMO there is too much filler in SS. I know it's fun and some of it is so good that it becomes the highlight of the game but that's still a filler.

I guess that's just personal preference.

However, how I consume this content also plays a big role in my distaste toward all that bloat. Coming back to the game 3-4 years after a playthrough hoping to see what happens to Roxy, Mia and the family next, instead only to find them neglected and forgotten in favor of half a dozen of new faces.

What conclusions though ? Jenny's route was done ~4 years ago and she already has the most scenes in the game. Diane got 3+ updates now and is also mostly done. Debbie doesn't get voted for in polls, so will never get anything until she's pretty much the only 1 left for the remakes (and even if not that, it'll still be 3+ years before she'd get anything)

By saying that 4 years ago Jenny's route was finished means that the most of premise has been resolved 4 years ago. And ever since that date it was all a "filler".
