One dev by the name of Huli has made around 4 games now in the span of SS's cycle.
True, that is one of the downsides of that. New Projects need something fresh or else the game may as well be a DLC.

Despite my several complaints about the game's development, I've never felt making the game "Never-ending" was a problem.
If he just kept adding storylines and scenes at a decent rate, there wouldn't be a problem.
The issue all lies in the development rate (especially his art production rate, with the current coder and posing team). A rate that crashed out with the tech update, when may as well have vanished for 2 years, when suddenly showed up with something no where near the complete overhaul he proclaimed, still boasting old art assets he had talked about replacing at least a year before said tech update.

Its interesting to see how most arguments here have their foundation fall through if you look close enough. Most people put "Development Progress" as the front runner of it or the lack thereof in their view. Comes down to the amount of content in a patch and the time between patches for most people. That's all the value they have the ability to see. Some of the time also framing it as scamming or milking it. Drawing out updates, less content per update, but intentionally doing so knowing things could be done faster.
Been around since the first release and this is been a common rhetoric.(This is a new account lost access to the old one) The only negative thing I can think of is there is somewhat the illusion of choice when it comes to the polls. Especially in some of the early ones and maybe lesser so as the project progressed or more so depending on how you look at a few aspects. This for me was in the form of limited character options or options in the polls and giving choices where there was an obvious choice that would win out and did in those polls.
A few things to keep in mind here. This project has been running for a while and its not just a game people sub for. The ability to perceive your involvement in the development of the game(Voting, QA feedback, community, ect) is and attractive selling point for a sub. You can see he streams often 1 to 2 hour streams. So you can see the content created in real time. You don't even have to sub for this its offered for free. Its hard to agree with the stalling or scamming aspect due to this. Not all content is created on stream either so you know time outside is spent. This is just the artwork as well he does not do the programming. The pace has remained pretty consistent and you can tell the quality has improved over the first iteration. Could it go faster, maybe? Whatever the formula is for the pacing of the project its been working and subs keep growing. There is always going to be a degree of saturation where the increase slows as well. The game is free at the end of the day and if they're still subbed its probably not because they want updates faster.
I think everyone agrees we all want more content faster but some don't know how to regulate their emotions. I wish it was an update a month and I think that might squash some of this argument. However it will always be the prevailing theme of the thread. Its common for most game threads that are free or have a similar offer model.
Now I think there is something we can all agree on. If we don't get a Debbie and MC breastfeeding handjob scene before her content is over we riot?!?!?

You have been able to play Summertime Saga for 9 years while it's been in development (and development hell).
You have not been able to play GTA 6 at all while it's been in development (and development hell).

GTA 6 completed before Summertime Saga? Most likely. Right now the tentative release date for a "completed" version of GTA 6 is delayed to May 2026 due to unforeseen development issues. Summertime Saga has no plan to release a "completed" version any time in the near (or mid) future - simply adding content and tweaking the game until they get tired of doing so.
My first hgame i downloaded after watching its gameplay on youtube. I dont even remember how long it has been since then but i was still in school back them.Play it on my phone and really enjoyed it. And even now after almost a decade of being developed its still not finished. Perhaps this game's decade-long development hell is a metaphor for something.
I remember when this game used to get actual updates, it was crazy to come home from school, pick up on a stream from DC, then a few weeks later see the stuff he was drawing on stream on the actual game
