Is the Patreon version like that? Or I guess the version on here? I was going to argue that censorship would imply that the content is missing, because it isn't in the Steam version. Incest is just a toggle in the settings menu, I didn't have to do any "after market modifications" to make it available.
There is also a run-once screen when you first start the game asking if you want it on or not. I don't know how to open the game files to find that image otherwise I'd put it here too. Isn't that kind of weird? It seems like thats a fire-and-forget setting, who needs to be able to toggle it on and off at all, let alone frequently enough to want it on the menu bar?
Anyway, all that was just to point out that we might have been talking past each other on the censorship argument because our game versions seem to be significantly different on this issue.
I almost agree about not having to romance her, but the issue doesn't affect just one character, its four. The two MILFs and their two daughters. Thats 40% of the LIs, so if the incest wasn't toggleable then the game is that much less attractive to those who don't have the kink. Also especially because Shortcake is one of them.
...Also the story revolves around sister/childhood friend. Her character sheet entry doesn't even have a heart to toggle on or off her path with. So she's not really an optional LI, you either gain points, or try to balance them, or purposely drive them into the negatives. You can't opt out like you can with everyone else.
Sure, those lines look out of place in the non-incest version, but who cares? Is that part of the thrill, the pearl clutching by the other characters? I don't mean that to sound... judgey? Just don't understand why it was mentioned, because I just ignore those lines. And all the hemming and hawing of the MC's "oh but I can't!" train of thought, thats what skip is for. Incest is such a pervasive kink in AVNs that you can't get away from it. Games that have absolutely no need to put a blood relation in it do so just to get that tag. So I'm used to ignoring all that.
P.S. I think I said this in this thread when I first played, but that MC needs to get a fucking CAT scan or something, he's been knocked unconscious like at least once a week so far.
Yes, it's the patreon version that's like that. The subscribestar version has it turned on automatically. I don't care that you don't like incest. It's ridicolus to argue that the non incest version of the game is just as valid when it was literally written after the incest one and cuts off multiple endings. And turning incest on and off doesn't effect the other characters either, Ashley is not the player's mom, the only character who is releated to him other than the sister is the cousin, except you don't find that out honest you specifically steal her paternity results on her route. Also all the characters have hearts on them to toggle the relationship. I'm not really sure why you are saying the sister doesn't.
No the story doesn't resolve around a childhood friend. It literally makes no sense if you turn it off. Why would Gerald suddenly just decide to have Ashley and the sister live with them? Why are characters shocked to find out that The Mc and the sister are in a relationship? Yeah those lines feeling out of place is the main reason why the non incest version isn't really valid. It just overtly messes up the story and is mostly an afterthought with less content overall. If you have to go through so may hops just to get around incest, including literally skipping some of the dialogue because it doesn't make any sense. Then it's pretty obvious that the game is meant to have incest and the non incest version isn't really valid/canon.
And what do you mean you can't get away from incest? There are 92 pages of incest games on this site out of 667 pages, and there are 575 pages of non incest games on this site out of 667 pages. That's only 13% of games on this site are incest based. Seriously. You don't like incest, don't play games with the incest tag. You telling me you skip dialogue and ignore dialogue because some of it doesn't make sense, because you're explicably playing a game that caters to a kink you dislike is just sad. Go play something else. You keep saying you can just ignore the obvious incest themes, but you shouldn't have to ignore it. You should just play something that doesn't have the incest tag on it.
