Problem is the eugenics program was created before the knowledge of a monster invasion, the gods etc. They didn't even know the monster tide currently happening was actually a thing, even with precognition and clairvoyance, they were in the dark about it as evident by their surprise during the initial stages of the invasion. So in essence, they literally intended for the extinction of humankind since the early founding, the program sterilizes humans without superhuman compatibility. It feels like a huge oversight in the narrative. What the hell kinda scientists and world leaders think genocide & extinction of their species is the best future? Likely the author will fix that by making sterility curable or something.
Their usage of eugenics wouldn't cause humanity to die out, it just increases their odds. A human being exposed to monster material actually has 4 outcomes.
  • 15% fight off the infection and remain human.
  • 25% become Infected class monsters.
  • 40% just straight up die.
  • 20% become superhuman.
As mentioned by another, their program reduced the percentage of straight up death and increased the chance of ascension into a superhuman. We've been there and done that regarding the morality of their actions, but less dead bodies and more defenders is obviously beneficial for humanity long term. Furthermore, Malik also implies it wasn't just sterilisations they were doing either, as he mentions one of the methods H.E.R.O. may have used during their program was actually altering the fertility of those with traits they wanted propagated in the population too.

I don't really see where in the game it is shown HERO leaders are surprised by invasion. I'd guess that while they don't know as much as Ella, they clearly know enough. For example their knowledge of monster gods is hinted during the evolution of Tiffany and Michael, where they expected both Apostles to observe the event.
The only people who seem to know things about the invasion and the reason behind it are Xanthe and Dexter.
Before the eclipse, Bernhardt, Malik, and Henri were all three about to invade Hex's dimension, rescue the Mc and destroy SIN for good, but once the eclipse started they were all shocked and seemed to have no clue as to what the eclipse heralds, with Malik questioning wether their influence and/or Henri's lack of control caused it at first.

And if those three did not know of it, it is unlikely any of the others did, such as Nyx or Lucius.
Zack and Deus likely did due to their powers, and like I said Xanthe and Dexter for sure since they discussed it after the fact and from their conversation it seemed like this was a long time coming.
But other than those 4 people, I doubt most of HERO had any idea of the grand scheme of things.

Well, yeah, but the fact they didn't know what the eclipse is (neither do we, I believe) doesn't mean they didn't expect monster invasion to happen at some point. I do agree that Dexter and especially Xanthe probably know much more than any other in HERO except for maybe precogs

I won't say that he know at a level approaching those two, but we have to consider that Henri spent a lot of time in the 'spirit realm', and probably has pieces of knowledge from lots of different events

On talk of the monster arc, it does suffer from a lack of focus on development of the MC and is more subdued in its world building, you would have thought it would have been the setting that would test him but they never seem to be in any serious danger up until the very last part, it did have some great atmosphere though.

But by far its strongest contribution to the narrative was making the main characters feel like people who know each other and would fight together, feel like a team. Before the arc, the MC's original friends, Alice and Michael, Ella, these 3 different groups didn't have much to do with one another. But the MC is long overdue a good fight.

Devlog 93(Thanks for a Thousand patrons!!!)

Yo guys. Just wanted to say a big thanks for a thousand patrons, it's a pretty big milestone. I imagine it'll drop a bit in a month or two til them next update comes out, since it tends to fluctuate, but still, never had a thousand before, so I really appreciate it.
This son of a bitch deserves it. Tell me the names of 10, no, 5 game developers who update their games in such a short time, always keeping the same pace and always interacting with the community, tell me the names of 3 games that are better than this one! And tell me one game, just one game, that has a better story

This isn't a game you play just for the scenes. I am willing to bet that at least 95% of people here play for the actual plot and story.
IMO kinda disagree, although its a good story but overall too much talking but overall a pretty fun game but I get your point since its only typo and decision making

Ah, Parasite Black. Good VN with potential but i wish development was quicker. The plot moved like only a couple of inches after several years.

I just started this VN and it took me about 4 days to complete Superhuman v0.999 from start to finish, though i was on leave so was clocking in 10-12hr playtime each day. Might take longer for you.
You probably should download the walkthrough/mod. I played the game without it and it has a lot dead ends, skill checks and so on. My 2nd playthrough was a much smoother ride with the WT.
Thanks for the answer. Yes I studied the walkthrough a bit and it def helped. As for PB, there is supposed to be a major update coming soon, well see..

I mean, if you came for gameplay you shouldn't really be playing visual novels in the first place. But even in visual novels, at least of the adult kind, the story tends to be... not the focus, lets say.

There are exceptions obviously, with a great example being Fate Stay Night. There's porn, but in all honestly it's secondary to the actual story. Though, Superhuman's definitely more porn heavy than Fate, especially at the start.

You CAN play for just the scenes, but at that point you could just play/watch/read something made for that, while if you play through without reading, you're forever ruining what could've been a great experience.
