And protag is probably working towards copying powers from others Valrvn said something about him beying the "memory" power or somethin, can't remember the exact phrasing and he talks weird, so, this is just my tinfoil hat theory but get this, the protagonist was attacked by two monsters, he got 2 abilities, reading the memory of others and transmutation, of his own body initially but extended to others recently, Ella has the second one, but I don't think she has the first one, when you show up to train with her WAY BACK when you have the chance to show her the poison tendrils, if you do, she sais "Oh, then you are ready" and kills you or some shit, you get a dead end, I don't think she has that ability to read the memory and more specifically the genetic memory of things, that's why we don't see her turn into animals and such too much, I believe she had to learn the intricacies of what she turns into, and the protagonist can just copy it instinctively, they mention that Ella had finesse with her powers even on his level, wich he hasn't, when he learns to make metal, I believe he ended up reading her genetics and copying the ability from that, and not from his practice, eventually he adapted to Jake's ability and we might be slowly working towards him adapting monster powers on contact, kinda like the protagonist from Infamous Second Son
One bonus thing that kinda works with this theory is that his weakness is electricity, like he is made out of neurons or something like that, electrical currents disrupting the memory tissue and making it mutate randomly and out of control
So TLDR; protag might have the power like "Memory of the universe" or "Gaia Memory" or some edgy shit like that in the end

Val negates some elements, not all powers, power to negate powers means it negates all powers, physical included, it basically nullifies all powers, Val miasma is a protection against elements wich means that physical powers still hold...
As for the walls of HERO, that is a material that is not affected by powers, it doesn't nullify powers inside HERO seeing as the MC and poison dude literally released their power inside of HERO.
As for Accelerator and Number 7, they are meme fuel like i said in my comment "meme powers" and "plot armor".

I think val abilities negation comes down to his strengt, ella said to jake that he could not affect those who are way more powerful than him. An memes are the DNA of the soul xD.

At least Ella is honest with us. I say that because while she has lied to other people, I don't think there was ever a case where she didn't either TRY to warn us or just not tell us the full truth; but always hinting at more.

Now take H.E.R.O for example; so many god damn variables it's not even funny. While you may have had a heart to heart moment with Ella (end of training), H.E.R.O has NEVER shown it's true colors so far. We've got snippets of Xanthe disregarding human life, Dexter threatening global domination, hell, you're out right killed if you don't join H.E.R.O and they are ready to replace you.

Ella is one person, get to know her, you're fine. H.E.R.O is a council with POWERFUL non council members to boot. So far we've got;

Council:
1. Dexter- Literal richest guy alive AND a politician to boot, of COURSE he has skeleton corruption in his closet.
2. Xanthe- ...
3. Bernhard- Literally refers to humans as humans, comon.
4. Lucifer- Delusional, he seems good, but may I remind you he was the one to burn down the Frat Party I believe, regardless of survivors.

Misc Members:
1. A Necromancer- I'm like 90% sure that's the teaser character if I'm not mistaken, though I could be wrong. REGARDLESS, I'm sure she turns a blind eye to a few civilians in the crossfire for some extra "help". (Plus if you could name me a morally good necromancer...)

3. Alexis- Unhinged.
4. Clark- Actually, he's fine.
5. Deus- Literally fed the crow that butched an entire cafe. Plan or no plan, that's still fucked up, how many monster attacks does he predict and keep to himself just to fit his future plans? (His mannerisms also strike me as uncaring)
6. Alice- Head of the FUCKING MAFIA! She literally has her end arc asking whether or not we could love the chick that just nuked a building! (Love her tho obviously)

Except I don't think so, everything points to otherwise as of now. I would've agreed with that in the beginning, she was (and still technically is) a GOD DAMN PSYCHOPATH!

But, once she achieved Lvl 5 status and didn't get what she wanted, it seems that she almost, gave up...no, if she was going to kill us, she would've done it by now just based off of the failure alone. She does still have a plan, but I don't think it's as big of a scale as it used to be. That heart to heart strikes me as genuine, if anything; it's the opposite, and she even hints at the fact that it may be possible that WE "mate with her" (use her to grow) and then kill her.

So that point doesn't really make sense to me, to start off as a two sided character only to reveal her true crazy side, now reverting to a vulnerable state (multiple times mind you), only to revert AGAIN to a conniving bitch? Nah, but that's not to say she isn't capable of killing us, or defending herself, or making big plans. She's obviously got something in the works, but most of it was to obtain Lvl 5, and once she wasn't chosen by the Numbered, she seemed to have detoured the plan to something perhaps more personal, less grand scheme. None of which I don't think target the MC in a specific malicious way, we'll probably be more of a third party.
