There are so many things that it's hard to pinpoint some. One of the best things are his ramblings about Shadow's love...

An all-powerful being needs nothing, but its power. If a being has a need, it isn't all powerful. It may or may not have skill, but it doesn't need it.

Something i think is relevant to that example in specific, is that no 'God' in Superhuman so far is omnipotent, not the Apostles and certainly nor the Arbiters who we know(Thanks to the chaos memory of last update)as a fact went to conflict with an unknown party and lost.

going back to the Apostles they are simply not a proper example of the type of Deity you seem to depict, we know that Spawns(such as the Queen of the Sky Humans) can grow to become something more, false gods with the power to backup the title. Henri being described as the same breed of the 'Invincible Lord', weapons of such power than if wield properly even a "God" would bring their full might in opposition, and Malik/Bernhardt are put on that same tier of danger by the Eye itself

something akin to a God with Capital G may have existed on SH, but it is either uninterested on it's creation, dead or just left the Universe, the closer thing are perhaps the Outer Twins who according to the Oldest Chosen, Aglaecwif are the only true gods of the bunch, but even them are speculation.

I wonder if Superhuman 2 would have a different mc and different powers. Like Instead of shapeshifting, he'd have soulstealing and he can integrate parts of his enemies soul into himself and gain their powers. Maybe even keep a few souls as his pets and call them out when he needs.

Oh I know. I was speaking generally outside of the context of Superhuman when discussing Power vs Skill, suggesting that Power is superior to Skill in martial combat in our world as well as the world of Superhuman. I could probably go on to suggest that that's the case in most fictional universes, but I won't because I'm not gonna provide the plethora of examples needed to defend such a position, nor waste the time.

A creator god of some sort is more probable than not considering how humanoids are placed throughout universe before being turned and conquered by the Apostles. With that said, nothing would suggest that even that creator god is near omnipotent.


Lastly, I think divine entities creating beings and allowing those beings to usurp them in power is the epitome of stupidity. It would be like Man purposefully trying to create powerful, self aware AI and being surprised that it decides to escape or rebel against its position of servitude. Wouldn't you?

Yes, and no...
Aside from it being a common enough literary trope, it's basically a derivative of polytheistic religions where despite having a singular leader/ruler of the gods, they're all as fallible as humans are in spite of their being (usually quite literally) so far above them. That includes instances of underestimating them, or being blinded by their own hubris.
In other words, they're not perfect.

If it's in relation to in-game religion/religious figures and their place in the story and setting then I'd argue it's on-topic. Not just because we've been talking about them recently... Or several times previously in the thread.

Even outside of the game, skill is just basically how good you use what you have, being power. Because of that, skill is conditional, dependent on power, while power is absolute. It doesn't rely on something else to have an effect.

You can have all the skill in the world, but without any way to express it, what can you even do? Imagine you were born so skilled that you recreated humanity's progress in martial arts yourself by the time you were two weeks old... what could you even do? You're so weak, weigh so little, that your attacks would do positively nothing. You'd have to grow up to increase your power enough to start capitalizing on your skill.

Mastery is earned, while power is intrinsic. Not in the sense that it never grows necessarily, but in the sense that it's always there. Back to the baby example, imagine you were born super unskilled, but with the strength of a giant. even then, your sheer physical abilities would bring you much more benefit than martial skill, at least in a fight.

And quite frankly, increasing your skill is easier the more power you have, since there's more to master, but the opposite isn't necessarily true.

I mean, even in the game MC with 0 skill (so 0 training too) gets killed by a couple of gun thugs at the restaurant if he tries to fight. He literally doesn’t know how to use his powers. Then he monstrifies from the damage and later gets burned alive by Malik, but whatever, just to complete the point.

Your own example doesn’t really work, I don’t know how else to say it. Sure, MC with 74 powers probably could have a very good chance against superhuman Oscar (who has only 12 Power and 4 Skills), but his strategy literally was "Look at the dude and punch the dude". And even then I doubt that MC without any transformation (again, 0 skill = 0 training) could easily kill him. His red light was just fine in stopping MC when he was running away with Danica even though MC might have been stronger stat-wise at that point. His light is Hax.

But yeah, sure, I don’t really see how Oscar would’ve killed the MC, considering his regeneration is instinctive and doesn’t require training. So I guess you could count that as a win for the MC. At least against superhuman Oscar.
