I think the MC's powers are particularly hard to imagine how they could develop into something stronger. He's dependent on what the writer gives him in a way that other characters' aren't. Which I know sounds weird, they're all dependent on what the writer lets them do, but hear me out. Most of the characters' powers are self-contained. They source only from themselves and how they've developed them. That makes it conceivable how they'd get stronger. They'll do what they're currently doing, but more powerful and with more finesse and maybe some more creative applications. It's easy to think of ways Alice could direct her growth, for example. Better barriers, more space-warping, golems like Danu and Aos have, etc.

But the MC's powers are based on something external to him. He has to work with what biology he's found to copy. Like, if he wants to improve his blades, he can't really develop that on his own. He doesn't have the fine control. He has to find something that has better blades than what he's working with, and if he can't, too bad for him. He doesn't get to have better blades. And it's not like we have a compendium of every monster in the setting and every potentially useful biological trait they possess, so the MC's potential growth is kind of a blank space. We don't know what he might someday be capable of, which since his foes have well-defined feats of power to compare him to, makes it hard to think he'd ever reach them.

Is that true tho ? I think that's what puts the Mc's potential way beyond anyone else's, I mean, first, we already have two templates that show us what the Mc's paths forward could lead to.

First template is coming from Ella, she represents what the Mc could achieve in regards to his Body traits, her powers to shapeshift countless times depending on the situation, her incredible control and knowledge of Body, and her abbility to manipulate and shape matter and infuse other beings with her powers ( as she did with Duncan ). With her powers of shapeshifting she was able to brifly withstand an attack from Malik, she was able to dodge Nico's portals due to her heightening her reflexes to the absolute peak, and the Mc briefly showed the same when he resisted Aos's teleportation.

The second template is Sylla, honestly the Mc said it best, it would be insane if he could do half the technniques she pulled, from teleporting enemies in the Dream world, I mean Mc in his fight against level 4 Cole did this briefly, Scylla on the other hand teleported Indra there for the entirety of their fight, then there's making enemies forget their actions, to connecting to other souls and calling them in battle etc, the possibilities are endless.


And the cream of the crop ofc, is that unlike Sylla and Ella, the Mc can combine these since he has both traits, he could connect to a soul with his Memory, and replicate their biology with his Body.
Honestly sorry to say, but I categorically disagree with you, whilst everyone else is bound by their specific ability types, the Mc is so versatile in his potential it's insane to imagine.

yeah and all that came from the writer who has to imagine what he can do so its still limited to the writer even if he has insane potential its still limited to if the writer actually uses it plus the replicate biology isn't possible with certain things in this game like the monsters because their powers are a part of their biology and it even changes their biology so if mc wants to copy their biology he has to somehow copy or replicate their abilities which isn't possible and if he did the writer would have to find a way to write that into a fight with all of mcs other abelites and have to change some of his other abelites if he did do mcs potential.

I'm not saying that the MC doesn't have potential. He does. I'm saying that the way his potential works makes it hard to predict what he'll actually do with it. Like, you're absolutely correct, the MC has an incredibly broad and versatile potential for how he can grow. But so much of it is based on things that are still unknown. What monsters will the MC scan and reproduce traits from? How much does not being as good at Body or Memory reduce his abilities compared to Ella or Syla? What does combining Body and Memory together actually do? What influence will the Eye have on his powers? And so on. What answers Weirdworld settles on for those questions determines a lot about what the MC's "endgame build" will look like, and makes it hard to predict it from this perspective.

This is a similar misconception to illiterate medieval peasants.
A lot of people could write and read, but there was no unified rules for the language and the nobility spoke french while the priests spoke latin, both fluent in word and on parchment and with concise rules.

The legion example is a case of 'it makes a better banner design'.

The general rule is, though, no cipher repeats more than thrice.
Numbers go from left to right from the highest to the lowest.
A smaller number before a higher subtracts.

If you follow these rules and want minimalism, you automatically write 14 as XIV and 13 as XIII, because that's less strokes. And when you put these to stone or clay, that fucking matters.

Actually no, we've seen the peak of shapeshifting at the beginning with Ella training him to rearrange his atoms and in the middle at it's peak when Ella used shapshifting backwards to resist her form being altered.

These *are* the conceptual end points of MC's main power and we've seen lesser versions used in the fight against Cole where it's actually stated that he struggles with his shapeshifting power to maintain the diamond head axes.

The problem comes from adding the memory trait and how that will influence his other existing power, as well as how it will evolve on its own. Because it's very possible that MC may be able to physically shapeshift into the imagined forms from the minds of others.

And that's a horrific idea.

Also electricity absorption. Now imagine MC wiring himself to the electricity flowing in a cosmic dust cloud with a few billion times the strongest terrestrial lightning strike ever recorded.

I'm gonna give y'all a bit of a dampener here, because with how deeply stylistic this game is, there is no way WW doesn't let some... WW-ism into whatever the follow up is.

And that may cause a lot of weirdness for anyone who played Superhuman intensely. So it may take some time getting used to the new game if you've been here for a while.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that is drawing this conclusion after their origins were revealed. They both so happen to overlap with Henri speculated powers. In the Truth and Fantasy parts.

As I'm typing this, it's a bit hard to hold back so I'll just say the thought that came to mind. Henri is the river while Malik and Bernhardt are the streams. They all flow towards and connect to the ocean (Not referring to the Great Ocean). At least that's my assumption after receiving this information. Essentially, they all have a portion of Paradox power. The three of them possibly hosting portions of the unborn Origin itself allowed such a path to open.

Now obviously it's anyone's guess of which facet is split among the three. It could be all of it or just portions of it. But that's likely why the Origin doesn't awake in Henri. Because it's split between all 3 of them and through their three way connection, they got much more out of their evolutions and powers. Along with their already perfect prowess as superhumans.

Which, assuming the above is true, would explain why no one could possibly reach their levels. Even if they were the perfect superhuman like them. Because it's really the perfect storm of opportunities. And that's not the only thought that came to mind from this lore drop. But I'll wait until the public release so I can check a few things.

Though I'll just say that obviously it's speculation. And while I don't think WW lied about their origin. There's a chance that this isn't the conclusion to be drawn from it.

I'm pretty miffed!

I felt like the way this update was handled was less than ideal. The way 0.996 ended looked like multiple party members were on the verge of a potential evolution so I expected at least one to evolve. But that didn't happen...instead everyone was just teleported in a dungeon.

And while I don't mind Alice getting a chance to shine I don't like that the MC did literally nothing all update. I thought when he visited the arena on his own he could at least do some training there but no. Then the event at the brothel is a dead end so he can't do that either.

And Alice not only becoming a monster but wanting to literally eat flesh from the MC downgraded her from one of the most likable LIs to basically the bottom of the list rn. The emo goodbye might have had some impact if not for that.

I also hated how we got literally nothing about Michael...presumably he's still alive, somehow. But still, we should have seen something of him. But I would not be surprised if he monsterfied as well...I don't think him evolving to level 3 would be enough to survive up there...he'd have to be at least an A class monster.

I did like how the story of Aos and Danu was handled though, that was excellent.

Actually instead of being the source of his power I was instead thinking that the souls within him would act as a way of keeping him from becoming an avatar of the Second ( yes I believe Malik ( or atleast the creatue that got him turned ) is a spawn of Second ).

The Eye did say Malik was : '' Completed, but kept whole by faith ''.
''Completed'' in this context likely means Malik is far enough evolved to become an avatar of his Apostle, but ''kept whole by faith'' could be that his consciousness and that of those who died for his sake are keeping him from ascending, like an anchor.

Hell maybe that's the reason they were sacrificed in the first place, to keep Malik, a level 5 perfect superhuman from becoming an avatar.
Ofc my theory has some holes, I mean the rituals for becoming an avatar need to consensual, but maybe the Second is powerful enough to force his spawn into submitting, so that's why Malik, Xanthe, or someone else performed a sacrifice on Malik, to keep that from happening, who knows

That actually make your theory sound even better, not much of a fan of Malik being a potential Chosen, but being keep grounded by the souls of his comrades?, that's good angst.

Besides, you were actually right about Malik's monster, on today's stream, WeirdWorld give away his and Bernhardt's monsters genetic makeup.

According to WeirdWorld, both their monsters are related.

Malik's is 'Fantasy, Truth and Power'

Malik and Bernhardt's monsters being brothers feels important, too, though I can't quite piece the thought together. Something about it being reminiscent of the twin bond that the Moon twins have. That's supposed to require both the humans and the monsters to be twins, so they can't have that. But maybe the genetic similarity of their monsters is still giving Malik and Bernhardt a bit of a link, and helping them connect to Henri. Or maybe I'm just grasping at straws.

We didn't get any satisfaction from Cole's fight, Jared didn't even fight and Ella has been gone since before moster world when she was supposed to be the bees knees and then she dies and we get a doll? Seriously? We are not getting any real satifaction for very real enemies and I guess I'm justs sad that it is yet again gonna be 3 or 4 months before anything can be done with the lengthy row of people the MC as dates of detiny with and I'm starting to get concerned that they are just gonna be left laying about. I'm bummed.

To be fair Eisheth would actually 100% do that and then some.
There is that bad ending where when you infiltratre the SIN tournament, if you choose not to join the fight, you and invisible girl get to follow Eisheth, and she's mating with a chimera or a monster of some sort before brutally murdering it afterwards.

Also it wasn't due to lack of control but just a kink thing, plus it was just one scene, people really shouldn't get upset over it that much. There was a guy above you who said it made Alice go from best girl to worst, like, seriously ? C'mon guys.

I personaly disagree, the Monster World arc has been very fun. Yes I understand your points and agree it kinda bummed me out the Mc's route and his progression seemed to take a backstep at times.
But this arc finaly gave us information on the monster world, on their origin, on Gods and past of other characters etc.

And I believe this last update was phenomenal, we got the most ammount of monster interactions, they finaly seem like less of the black and white bad guys they almost always did until now. We finaly got information on the structure of monster society, we finaly, in clear text, know what the Chosen do and their role in monster society.

Aos has been such a fun read, we finaly get someone with knowledge and willing to share it ( cough Ella ), and I personaly loved Alice's arc.

Also Ella's story is still going strong idk what you mean. It's clear her path is leading up to something big such a ressurection. And it makes sense she would have such a plan as faking her own death as SIN had no chances of victory.
