Yeah thats what I thought too the 3rds chosen lost to 1st just cuz he probably relied on power too much. In the jake battle you lose even if you have higher than 1000 power, so you had to take the option that highlighted your skill and intellect more. You can say though that the MC used both memory and body powers to beat Jake showing how amazingly those traits complement each other and also that he had an advantage over pure authority because of his dual twin trait. Also weird world needs to work on making the dream world look more unique cuz I can never differentiate between the monster and dream world due to how similar they look.I think this is a good reflection of what we know of a previous Chosen of Body losing to a Chosen of Authority too. That chosen had complete faith in the power of their ability and just plainly lost. Building up skill to complement that power is the obvious tipping point. Like do any of us really see Ella at full strength as someone that would lose to the Black Mouth? Her skill is beyond the pale on top of the absurd potential she shows of her power as a Chosen of the Third. For all we know her ability that prevents any change to her extends to mental changes too, completely stripping Authority of what would be its main point of attack against someone like her. She can't move while exercising it, but she could probably just train that weakness out given more than a few weeks at level 5.
I'm also really liking that the narrative seems to be giving more hints that Strength Eaters, or at least Amber's specific "monster" isn't actually a monster to explain why they haven't reached level 2 yet. While I was still lurking I saw some people miss that bit of lore that they're part of the Great Ocean's power hierarchy, not the apostle's. That also has some fun implications for Aos's planet, setting it apart from other monster worlds now that he specifically mentioned that the oceans are part of what would make his planet a little harder to just eliminate.
