Yaren said he is the chosen of Authority, but got power of a shapeshifter ? and he is too damn weak. Maybe this guy just someone being control by the real one.

Man, I really hope the fate-determining characters make a difference in this final arc. Jake and Danica evolve and become stronger when spared, they owe their lives to the MC so they have to do something right? Laurie needs to wake up and Danu needs to recover. I have a save with all of them alive and I hope the work pays off. Maybe they make some part of a battle easier? Cooperate with the MC against an enemy? I don't know.....

he hasn't even seen Yaren's powers before and still dogwalked him, and he was not even using new forms.
I loved how he made Yaren his bitch, basically without breaking a sweat (despite his arrogance). The ending of it was a bit sus though. I think compared to other lvl 3s, MC is pretty fucking strong after a year of constant fighting and training...that Cole fight would be a lot easier now. Shouldn't be far off from 4. And as shown before you don't necessarily need to evolve to get a lot stronger (it doesn't hurt though)

It's a matter of taste and personal preference I guess. And for me the MC doesn't seem like an underdog, if anyone does I'd say that Michael fits the term better. An underdog is if I haven't misunderstood, taking an example from today's female tennis competition matches, when an unknown ranked 116th in the world of tennis beats the one ranked number 3. Michaels start as as a superhuman is the very definition of that, beating the Lei long or w/e it's called with his tenacity and no powers.

But to explain further of why I say it's probably a matter of taste and personal preference; I am the type of person who cheats heavily in single-player games and get more joy and many more hours of gameplay in a game by cheating, whereas if I can't cheat at all(in my single player game, I like playing co-op multiplayer where we don't cheat) I simply don't play.

I don't know if it's because of my childhood, having some rough teenage years and living the glory of being an adult with responsibilities, but I struggle and get challenged enough in real life and don't want more of it during my spare time and in my hobbies.

But I also know that I'm a minority in this. And for something to grow from popularity to proper followings, you have to cater to the most stable and populous group. Ergo, not me.

And again, I do not mind GrimDark™ and happen to be a wh40k fan who likes to play Thousand Sons and Necrons, but I am also of the opinion that good GrimDark™ doesn't have to mess with the main character in this manner. Tragic ends and events sure, but when nerf your own MC because you can't move the plot forward otherwise, that's bad writing according to me. If I start to relate to such an MC then I start feeling the abuse they get. And since the MC of this game is almost constantly getting battered one way or the other, yeah that just ruins all joy I get from the amazing characters, lore and plot.

Also as a final side-note; Jared showing up powered up(evo 1 or 2 artifical?) and getting his ass kicked would've made sense with how he was written before that point. He was a school bully with hooks in the Dean and a rich daddy, that you had to overcome whilst hiding your superhuman-ness. Jared isn't skilled in anything except brute manipulation of women and sports, and has lived a sheltered life. You're telling me that a spoilt and sheltered new-made artifical superhuman can't be beaten no matter how drained the MC and gang was? That no one could prevent a bloody crystal being shot at Laura?

Sorry, I don't know what's in the mind of WW but anything regarding Jared past the school phase is trash writing and for me forcing your own ideas upon your readers. Jared is bullshit and should have monsterified and died in a similar manner to Kenny, when he notices that daddys money didn't make him better than MC in a fight and overdraws his powers.

Instead we get the bullshit we have. Fuck Jared.
tldr except the last sentence

FUCK JARED, I WANT TO TEAR HIS TENDONS, RIP HIS SKIN AND FLAY HIS FLESH!

That, and he is literally a shade in a cloak with glowing eyes. If he can possess/body hop, then not exposing what he rally look like make sense for if he need to switch body

Nah but fr though, Mc was on DEMON timing this update. I feel like mf just had too much feelings inside and just let them out in an explosion in his fight with Yaren. Like he hasn't even seen Yaren's powers before and still dogwalked him, and he was not even using new forms. I noticed Mc used his first transformations, first the Rhino, then the Eagle, and then the gorilla muscles, all coming after the previous one, made me remember the old updates and I loved it.

And it's fitting for Mc to be THIS powerful, or at least seem like it. Mf was just fighting stronger people even before the Monster world arc, with Shen and the twins in the 3v1, Shen being a more powerful lv4 than Cole was and even before the Memory training. Then a lv3 Cole who was still more powerful than Mc, then his lv4. And then the horde of monsters in the MW, which contained various A class.

After all that, fighting a Superhuman with a similar range of power seemed like Mc was fighting a Lv2. I know Yaren HAS to be more powerful than that, but c'mon, Mc absolutely destroyed him. I knew my goat wouldn't let us down, start investing in Mc stocks, trust.
Something I really liked about the fight with Yuren was that it made the Mantis Fist feel powerful again. How long has it been since Mantis attacks were a decisive weapon, and not just a slight damage boost? By my count, it was all the way back against Deryl-Rebis. It's become passe, something expected. But with this new strength-focused form, the magic is back. It's more than a standard attack, it's a hypersonic bullet punch that cracks diamond flesh and sends foes crashing through entire buildings. The MC's original killer move regaining its proper place goes a long way to make him feel strong.

Third evolution so far suffered from looking like the armor with tails was the optimal strategy. It's nice to go back to shapeshift into whatever suit the current situation (and is exactly what mini taught him before)

Am I the only one whose game won't start?
It might sound daft, but have you tried restarting your system?

I've had Ren'Py games that worked fine on one day, then going back to them on a different day and that happens, then the next day they're fine.

It's not possession/body hopping.
If you let Jake live, he tells you that his new level of power scares him because he can't control it and low-mid level superhumans and normal humans are automatically influenced by him. It's subtle foreshadowing for Yuren (Authority, like Jake) who is clearly controlling a shapeshifter superhuman, but releases him when the MC wins/the battle is over.

Indeed. The MC kind of stagnated in his shapeshifting's versatility for a long time. Michael got into his head about how trying to train for every possible shape he had was impossible, it made the MC too conservative with his transformations. Seeing the MC be willing to experiment with more shapes is so good after all this time.

I praised the muscle form for making the Mantis fist impactful again, but I think the eagle was actually my favorite. The MC has never had a proper high-speed form. He thinks of the light armor as that but it's technically just a "slowed down least" transformation, not a speed-boosting one. He's no faster in the light armor than he is in his base form. I'm happy to see him finally optimize his body for speed.

v0.9999, really? where's version 1.0 and how close is this to it?
WW said it's the final arc, so how many updates are left will depend on how much each one covers of the seven days.

Then there's the post–seven days sub-arc, the final climax, and the epilogue. So, in my opinion, it's going to take at least three more updates (if the last one is version 1.0), and at most four or five, depending on how much progress is made through the seven days and what follows.

Personally, I think we're only about 20% through this final arc.

And, that's just my dumb guess.

I thought that could have been the reason, too. I downloaded it yesterday, but it didn't open then, and I tried again today, it still doesn't. I guess I'll delete and download the game again. Someone suggested going to the discord, so if it still doesn't work, I guess I'll check there

It is extremely likely. If you notice during the fight when he starts freaking out, the color of his name changes, implying that the real Chosen aka the Black Mouth, stopped possessing him.
Good catch, I thought something was up when I read "Then it seems we must fight. Let's see what Yuren is capable of.", but it was way too late. That color change is a orange-ish pink to standard orange. Hell, they are labeled 'Yuren' and 'Yurent' as speakers.

The possession idea makes him awfully similar to Langdon, which is something I really, really don't like.

On that note the line "Yuren's been sar gevurah for over a decade." has turned out to be interesting, because that's a reference to Kabbalah and also a weird portmanteau. My hebrew is a bit rusty but the words mean 'lord' (note the lower case) or 'angel' and gevurah means 'Judgement' or 'Strength' and refers to the fifth sephirah of the Kabbalah. A possible but weirder translation would be 'lord five'.

One more update to v0.99999, then the v1.0 update.

Then WW will probably immediately start working on SH2? I think?
