What exactly is the Cole update (their fight?). MC mom was a monster, a chosen of Memory, from the monster world. She came to the current world, and had a child (MC). She died, but is still able to guide her son toward her own goals.
yeah the fight, Edit: man I eidh they would do recaps cuz I forgot everything already lol

boys I don't understand any fuck after the Cole update and I don't get what the MC's mother has to do with anything can somebody explain?
A recap of what we've learned about Syla since the Cole fight:

The MC's mother was a monster revolutionary. The "monster world" was in fact the previous world invaded by monsters, not their true place of origin. Syla was an inhabitant of that world, who transformed into a monster and became the Chosen of the 4th Apostle, the Memory. She served loyally for a while, but exposure to the memories of her victims eventually reawoke a sense of humanity in Syla. She started preaching against the gods, and gained a huge following. This included Aos Sidhe, another one of the Chosen, who now is allied with humanity as a result of Syla's influence.

All Syla's preaching drew negative attention. She has to flee to the human world and adopt a human identity to evade execution. By coincidence, she meets and starts a relationship with Steven, an agent of the anti-supernatural organization M.O.O.N.. Their affection is genuine, but Steven also convinces Syla to be a subject in M.O.O.N.'s experiments studying the monsterization process, run by Tanos Xanthe. This advances their research considerably, and also helps Syla maintain her human identity.

Steven and Syla have a child, the MC. The MC's existence is unexpected, nobody predicted that Syla could successfully reproduce with a human. The MC therefore becomes another test subject in Tanos' studies, though Tanos manages to restrict himself to non-invasive tests that don't draw any suspicion to him. This is not the case with a young Ella Vulpe, who the MC meets while attending his examinations at Tanos' clinic. The two of them bond, leading to the present Ella's fixation on the MC.

Steven, Syla, and the MC live a happy life, until one day when the MC is twelve years old. Indra, the executioner of the Apostles, finally catches up to Syla. They fight, Syla dies, but manages to erase Indra's memory of her human family. Though making no intentional action against the MC of Steven, the mere passage of Indra's lightning-wreathed form destroys their house and gives the MC his facial scars. At this point Syla, for reasons still unclear, uses the last of her strength to seal away many of the MC's memories. The resulting gap in his mind allows the creature the fandom calls the Eye to enter the MC and begin their symbiosis. The Eye itself does not know why Syla did this.

I really start to dislike the cheerleader events. How come after all this time Jess whants to help Jared? The only reason that he was with her is because he needed some ties with the Faculty. The papers that he needs is what hi father wanted it, and what he means SIN whants him dead? HIS FATHER OWNS SIN more or less. When I read the lines about how his afraid and that a lot of people and monster are gonna kill him and that some papers will help him survive I was like: BITCH YOU CAN'T BELIVE ANY OF THIS. No ofense to WW but DAM Jess is 1 Dum Characher

5 evolution are level 20 wizzard. The amount of bullshit you need to throw at them for anything interesting to happen make them far less interesting to follow than before

Evolution 4 gameplay would still work, you just have to ramp up the difficulty. Maybe something like fighting an A rank completely by yourself. Then you'd be on your fifth at the very end of the game.

I get that what you're, it's just that the same evolution 3 tricks over and over again can get boring too.

I wonder if Jake's survival will have any influence on this arc dealing with the Black Mouth. They've got the same powers, after all. I'm not expecting anything major, no Jake coming to help us fight or anything like that. But maybe he could unlock some extra training events, where we work with him to develop mental defenses. That would be neat.

I mean, not all level 5 are equally as powerful, the Captains are clearly different as a whole, and Henri, Bernie and Malik are outliers even among them and these three fuckers are the level 20 Wizards, even so, so far they seem like interesting characters, mainly because even with their power, Malik and Henri are pretty fucked up in the head(and Bernhardt is a hardass), an author can write a powerful character on a entertaining way, but yeah, it would be difficult to do so for the MC of an action story.

Something that I liked a good deal from this update, is the emphasis the game(mainly via Stephen) make in how powerful the Captains as a whole are, I feel like in the past, the main spotlight was on just the Trio, but Truth be told, all the Captains are special, even if not to the same extent, that line about how 'They would live on' even if Humanity and the Planet itself fall was cool for two reasons, for one is proper glaze, and two would make more impactful when we finally get to see a Captain being killed on-screen.

Still in the topic of Captains, I don't know if this is a hot take, but man, I really like Lucius, he's such an arrogant asshole, but on a entertaining way, like when he talks shit about Lisa, or when he simply shrug off insults instead of getting offended, because in his head, he's actually the top dog, and as far is about how good his election of clothing and equipment, he actually is. Is also nice to see how WeirdWorld allow Lucius to be actually cool, despite being such an arse, a single clone of his make Aos let out a grunt of effort while blocking his attack(that wasn't a dirty one, Aos already had noticed Lucius), same Aos that make an Ancient S-Class Monster run away from him.

Lucius would have been beloved if he did not insult the MC in the first meeting.

As if the Mc holds any grudges for something that trivial. Besides, I distinctly remember Lucius telling the Mc he roots for him when they talked at Tiffany's weeding.

The bigger question is why do you need to self-insert with the MC in any story?
I don't need to I just prefer to do it that way as that's how I best enjoy a story. Maybe my own mental VR is the best way to describe it. It's the same for me in standard video games or even reading a traditional book. I don't get as much out of a title if I have to separate myself from the MC. Does this limit me? You bet but the feeling that an MC character thinks and acts similar to myself... has similar morality or a sense of humor... is hard to beat. It's like I'm the star of the adventure! Cheers. :)

Edit: I was trained, as a child, to use this perspective. These books brought me endless hours of fun and adventure:

Choose Your Own Adventure is a series of children's where each story is written from a point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character's actions and the plot's outcome.
