A couple things regarding MC's ability to heal going forward according to WeirdWorld:
  • Earlier when thinking of ways to nerf the MC's ability to heal within the current lore, I mentioned how in-universe the MC suspected his memory of someone's physical state got updated when he touched them, which would have been a problem if he touched an injured Mia. According to WeirdWorld, that's the legitimate explanation, hence why we get statements like the MC having to rely on other women's body types when trying to save Laurie.
  • The Memory trait having any role at all in the MC's ability to shapeshift other people's bodies is getting retconned. The MC's usage of it will mainly be causing growth of parts and reshaping material like clay until it looks how he wants. Anything further than patching over a wound with extra flesh or knitting a bone together poorly would need him to actually know complex biology, and his ass wasn't getting into R&X on his own, let alone anything related to medicine.
  • Certain transformation scenes like FemNikki will be getting locked off and rewritten to reflect this. However, if you were infected by the Body at the start the MC will have increased proficiency with the trait and have access to those scenes.

In this case, does choosing the Memory provide any bonus?

Hmm, in the interest of being fair, I think there has been an implied path forward for MC gaining atomic control like Ella. There's this discussion between Xanthe and MC where it's brought up that MC can only really do it by mimicking what Ella did.

This implies that MC, either through consuming Ella or absorbing enough of her memories, could unlock atomic control. But I stand by the idea that MC on his own simply couldn't achieve the same degree of control.
If by "unlock atomic control" you mean no longer relying on the Memory trait, it doesn't imply that at all. It's very explicit how Ella could help him.
You "(Hmm, that might be an idea. That's how I learned to create metal after all, by her forcefully changing my body.)"
You "(If I could get her to forcefully change me into something again, or maybe if I'm touching her while she's transforming herself, I could potentially learn some new things.)"
That's not 'unlocking' atomic control, that's just getting new templates. It's no different from how he's always manipulated his atoms.

I'm not sure I like the idea of memories getting updated since they're, you know, memories. Feels weird. With all of the comments from Syla talking about "Memories are our history and the structures built up over generations and lifetimes", not having access to earlier memories doesn't make much sense. It would also imply MC shouldn't be able to transform into his pre-Superhuman self, not without having to do it by parts like how he tried to do Deryl for the first time.

To be honest, I feel like WW is nerfing the memorie side of the MC too much. It's starting to feel like the MC is 70% Body, 29% Memory and 1% ???.

The MC is 49% Memory. I think he should be nearly as proficient in memory as he is in Body.

I can understand WW's idea of limiting the MC's healing abilities, but, damn, saying that you're leaving the memory even further behind is an understatement. Now we'll even lose scenes if we don't choose a body, and I wouldn't be surprised if we couldn't save Shadow or give the MC's father his arm back. I was hoping that the MC could access people's DNA memory to heal them (with limitations, of course; otherwise, we'd be talking about being able to play with people's ages xD, but without limits since we're at level 5). I'm even thinking about switching codes and going over to the Body (I think it'll be hard to replay everything xD).

Alright, making this more organized, it would look like this:

  1. MC’s healing ability:
    • At first, it was thought that he healed because his “memory” of people’s bodies was updated when he touched them.
    • That was confirmed, but now they’re changing (retconning) how it works.
  2. How it’s going to work now:
    • The MC no longer uses memory to transform other people’s bodies.
    • He can only reshape flesh like clay, or make body parts grow.
    • He can even close wounds or set bones, but only in a very limited and imperfect way.
    • For more complex things (like real medical healing), he would need to actually study biology, and that’s way out of his reach.
  3. Impact on the story:
    • Some older transformation scenes (like FemNikki) will be rewritten or removed.
    • But if the player/MC was “infected by the Body” at the start, then he gains more proficiency with the ability and those scenes remain available.

My thoughts on this: Well, it’s a bold change. Personally, it’s not the change I would make, I’d rather keep as much of the story intact as possible. But thinking about it, it is cool to have a real difference between the initial Body and Memory choice. I just think limiting Memory to “extra stats” feels insufficient, since having access to more scenes seems like the better reward, unless those extra stats actually grant access to scenes that Body wouldn’t normally unlock, then it would make sense too.

Either way, I think it’s important to make it clear that the MC uses Memory to change his own body, and this happens automatically! For example, when he bumps into Amber by accident and copies her body perfectly without even choosing to do it. But when it comes to other people’s bodies, to me it never really worked that way. It always seemed like the MC had to experiment (like he did with the prisoners) in order to change their bodies (like turning that prisoner female or enlarging his friend’s cock). And the fact that he couldn’t heal Mia just by touching her makes sense under that logic.

Which leaves Laurie’s healing as the only real anomaly. If he really rebuilt her brain based on the “template” of women’s bodies he had in mind, it still feels… forced. At the very least, she should have suffered major side effects (like memory loss, personality changes, etc.) since it wouldn’t have been a proper healing but rather a reconstruction using Body’s power.

Anyway, that’s my take on it, what do you guys think?
