Wow. This is outstanding. The visuals are top notch. I love the clean font and the beautiful clean UI. I delighted in the conversational dialog that was almost always spot on, and had only a very, very small number of errors. This game clearly had a lot of work put into the writing and grammar/spell checking. I laughed at the No one expects ... line. I'm not finished the game yet but I had to stop playing to comment. This is a real little gem.
I do have one main critique. It's the audio. For much of the game it's silent. But occasional eruptions of sound occur when a droid or jawa speaks, or when a ship jumps to hyperspace or whatever.
This is....jarring as it is currently. The biggest issue with it is that sometimes the dev does not implement any text indication that there is a sound being played at all. If you're playing on mute, you would have no idea that anyone is speaking to the mc, and you'd be wondering who or what he is randomly saying things to.
I think it would be much better to insert something like <incomprehensible speech>, <droid noises>, or something like that in the text pane during these audio events to avoid this issue.
And in terms of the listening experience itself, the prolonged silences with occasional bursts of staticky sound is often uncomfortable at times. I really do think this would benefit from having some type of music to fill in the silences to make the occasional audio speech sound less surprising. And, well, if wishes were horses and I wanted to ride, then adding VO for the other characters would be lovely too (Not going to happen I know).
Some of the animations also seemed jerky but I'm not sure if that was my laptop being slow or not. It could well have been.
But please do not take the criticisms above as being a reason not to play this game. Even with these issues, it is brilliant.
It is not a fapping-first game: it has a slowish burn to it and it seems to be more interested in the story than the porn. That's a bloody good thing, IMO, because so am I. It does get there, however. And you don't have to wait months for the next update.
I played this expecting a short 'first release placeholder' kind of thing. But I was happy to learn otherwise. If I were to offer a star rating it'd be 4.5 stars. If the audio and text-indicator issues were sorted out, it'd have to rate as 5 stars for me.
Well done dev. Well done.
