I think the ending of Part 1 was the best way to wrap up the entire story. That rainy night served as the perfect climax to all the buildup. There was a steady progression of Asuna slowly getting corrupted and developing a desire for Inoda, and he, in turn, became completely focused on her. Every time they showed up together, their scenes got more intense, more interesting, and more charged. Then that final moment, when Inoda made it so Asuna couldn’t enter Kirito's house, and how she, full of curiosity and lust, ultimately gave in, that was the perfect peak.
Part 2, though, completely missed the mark. Right from the start, the story makes Asuna forget everything, and then just starts rehashing the same plots again. For what purpose? I honestly don’t know. You’d think that resetting things would give Inoda a chance to do things differently, but no, it’s the same loop, and it ends in the same way: Asuna and Inoda stuck alone in a room, because she “can’t” leave. It's literally the same plot on repeat.
But hey, the animated stuff is still excellent. That definitely deserves recognition. Honestly, I’ve only seen this level of animation quality in a handful of other Koikatsu rendered games. Everyone knows how much work Fujino puts into this, so it’s not like I’m trying to bash him or anything. That’s why I’m only talking in terms of the story and the game itself. So at least I know the next update will have top notch animations again, but at the same time, it’s hard not to feel like the story could’ve been so much better.
