Too unstable and too inconsistent each month to live comfortably. First Patreon and Ci-en will take a cut each dollar he receives. If he does get enough money to live on this month it doesn't guarantee next month he will get the same amount. If he does something his supporters don't like or if he finishes a game, he could lose a chunk of his supporters and their money. I know I would not feel secure if I did not have a stable source of income in case I didn't get enough from the supporters each month.

He is in a different country where you can just stay casually even if you have the money.
In order to stay in Japan he probably needs some kind of a work visa otherwise he’ll have to return to China which isn’t really an option if he wants to continue working on porn games etc.

honestly that does actually make a lot of sense to me now, I just had for some reason the impression he gets so much he'll be good off if he just keeps working for some more time and probably will just work on another game when he's done with this, since his style is just so unique there wouldn't be a problem. but it's true that in a event where he just wants to stop or doesn't receive the support anymore, it might even be a problem to find a new job since he just didn't do anything for a certain time and that is of course recorded. (as is in my country)
