In fact, if you look closely, you can see that the whole game is based on two fragile pillars - Kirito's boundless stupidity and Inoda's boundless luck. I disagree, considering Fujino said that Asuna Inoda's story will take a back seat and that he will focus on other characters, it would be weird if a whole week was skipped for no reason while the rest of the characters have something to do, as if there is no better opportunity for Suguha, Sinon, Alice, and other characters to interact with Kirito while Asuna is away. And considering Fujino said, the May update is just extra scenes to the previous updates to make them feel more complete.
