I'm curious about that, because in the Q&A session with Fujino this question was made:
"Q: Are you considering introducing a diary system for Asuna?
A: umm..It might not appear in the way you're thinking. "
He's was vague on purpose in his answer to avoid spoilers, because of that i think he will change the system maybe because Asuna is pregnant in FOG or instead of teasing with small animations he could use Kirito's phone or a limited real time perspective, then the full scene we will see only in the Rec room.

I don't have the option to enter the recollection room using the now game function. All options lead to some point in the game. Did I miss something?

You're probably not rocking the latest update. Since only v0.8 got the selection to choose recollection from the start.

For someone who only played this game and enjoyed it, should I play the older games too or will they feel like a downgrade?

They are a downgrade, in almost any objective view one could take besides subjective preferences one may have about the story and developments, but they are enjoyable in their own way. Like watching a low-budget horror film.
I would download his Chainsaw Man game first, since that is short and a pretty good frame of reference for the other games (which are also short, but not as streamlined as his CSM game.)
None of the games have the best girl of all best girls in them, so they clearly cannot compare to this one.
What do you think, will there be a new update in a week or two? I expect the update to be in two weeks, so at the end of May

Speaking of best girl, has there been any new Suguha scenes since the bath handjob?
None sadly, though Fujino has been hyper-focused on the main plot since then so it's no surprise, Sinon was the last side-character to get any focus before all this (With some bits of Alice's plot). We have seen her almost every day at the bar though so she's still hanging around, and technically you may count as a small scene the bit where Kirito imagines himself and her on the place of Inoda and "his cousin", but that's a very minor optional/missable thing XP

Should be soon but the lastest progress report said he wasn't done making all the events yet. We might get the actual release date next Monday.
There was one quick Kirito fantasy for Suguha giving him a BJ. The story has been focusing on the main couple lately so not much action for the side girls, even if one of them is the best girl.
