Yes. When you first meet them, you remember their name. If you remember "Josephine" they're a woman. If you remember "Joseph" they're trans.

So basically you can decide if it's a woman or a man.

Having to use a mod to see all the scenes in one playthrough is such a pain in the dick, but I guess the wait is on til its updated here. Makes no sense to have to replay a game which remains 85% the same just to see a handful of scenes that are skipped.
