1) George Orwell's book is 1984, and is about government totalitarianism, government infiltration of the privacy of people, and government restrictions and homogenization.
2) That comparison is inapplicable to a VN point-and-click game like this one.

I have some really unpleasant news to share with you. Let me start by saying that we will keep our promise to you. We stand by our word, and the project is ready - you’ll be getting it very soon.
Typically, Steam reviews projects within 3-5 days. However, in this case, the manual review has dragged on for over two weeks (they didn’t approve the project through their automated system). Just an hour ago, we received a “lovely” email from the review team. Just like what happened with Patreon - no dialogue, no second chances, just one mail and removal. The project was taken down, and we are now unable to upload it again.
To summarize: we’ve been banned on Patreon, and now we’ve been banned on Steam. On Patreon, it was supposedly due to "violence" (lol), and on Steam, it’s for existing in a "grey area." They’ve decided, based on their own interpretation, that it feels like a school setting - even though we’ve taken every measure to ensure otherwise: the lecture hall setting, clothes style, clear warnings that all characters are over 18, etc. But none of that seems to matter. There’s no mention of a school or anything related to it in the project.
No, we couldn’t have uploaded the project earlier because there were too many things to fix and adjust. No, the project does not contain serious violence (definitely not more than other Patreon - supported projects). It’s all incredibly unfair, but honestly, who cares?
We really want to share our short (and honestly frustrating) correspondence with Steam and Marty from Patreon support, but doing so would violate the platform rules.
Yes, this is absolutely devastating. I think you’ll be able to appreciate just how much the game has changed when we release it (very soon) . We’ve worked on this for almost a year without breaks or vacations. We’re completely burned out - we’ve lived and breathed this dream and hope. We gathered a huge wishlist and impressive stats on Steam. We put so much into this project. At one point, we were ranked 11th among Patreon’s top projects. But no, life had other plans.
Once again, I want to emphasize that the work is done, and you will get the project. This is our commitment to you.
