I have some really unpleasant news to share with you. Let me start by saying that we will keep our promise to you. We stand by our word, and the project is ready - you’ll be getting it very soon.

Typically, Steam reviews projects within 3-5 days. However, in this case, the manual review has dragged on for over two weeks (they didn’t approve the project through their automated system). Just an hour ago, we received a “lovely” email from the review team. Just like what happened with Patreon - no dialogue, no second chances, just one mail and removal. The project was taken down, and we are now unable to upload it again.

To summarize: we’ve been banned on Patreon, and now we’ve been banned on Steam. On Patreon, it was supposedly due to "violence" (lol), and on Steam, it’s for existing in a "grey area." They’ve decided, based on their own interpretation, that it feels like a school setting - even though we’ve taken every measure to ensure otherwise: the lecture hall setting, clothes style, clear warnings that all characters are over 18, etc. But none of that seems to matter. There’s no mention of a school or anything related to it in the project.

No, we couldn’t have uploaded the project earlier because there were too many things to fix and adjust. No, the project does not contain serious violence (definitely not more than other Patreon - supported projects). It’s all incredibly unfair, but honestly, who cares?

We really want to share our short (and honestly frustrating) correspondence with Steam and Marty from Patreon support, but doing so would violate the platform rules.

Yes, this is absolutely devastating. I think you’ll be able to appreciate just how much the game has changed when we release it (very soon) . We’ve worked on this for almost a year without breaks or vacations. We’re completely burned out - we’ve lived and breathed this dream and hope. We gathered a huge wishlist and impressive stats on Steam. We put so much into this project. At one point, we were ranked 11th among Patreon’s top projects. But no, life had other plans.

Once again, I want to emphasize that the work is done, and you will get the project. This is our commitment to you.

A weird choice on steams part to have their page up for months before removing it. At the same time, I was expecting this more early on. Idk why people were saying Steam was more lax with their rules than patreon.

Just Wanted To Give My 2 Cents RQ Okay Correct Me If I'm Wrong But Can't They Still Just Use Subscribestar To Continue Their Work Since People Support Them (I'm One Of Them Hi!! ✌). I Really Don't Want This Project To Be Lost I Feel Like That's The Only Way To Keep It Alive After Everything That's Happened To Them. Also I'm I The Only One Who Didn't Think It Was A Good Idea For Them To Put Their Eggs In One Basket With Steam And Should Just Stick To Subscribestar Only? Their statement didn't sound like they're disbanding the project, but they're definitely dejected by the removal. I'd guess that they'll be releasing it there soon, but the future doesn't look bright and I could see this getting abandoned if the substar stats can't cover staff expenses. More worrisome for them is the idea of Substar coming down on them in the future, especially with their history, it's hard to trust one platform to be your only source for distribution.

um, yeah, Steam owns the site,and they interpret as they see fit. Also, what drugs is Uberpie on that he thinks there is no mention of "a school" in the game? That's like half the scenes in the game.

I realize that Uber pie changed it to a "college" in 2018 to appease Patreon... But the dialogue and narrative says "school" and "teacher" and "principal" far too often but not "dean" and "instructor" /"professor" and "university"/ "college" enough

They are currently grossing just as much $$$ on Subscribestar, if not more, than they did on Patreon before they got booted.

To my knowledge, Steam is cracking down heavy on school uniforms in adult games. Poor timing really, and I was actually thinking of getting the game on Steam if it released. I know other devs have had issues before and they just made changes to their game to fit Steam's standards and try and upload it again under a different name (I don't really know the specifics as I'm not a dev).

Honestly, I think KaguraGames plays it best as a publisher. Release a "SFW" version of the game that nobody is going to play, and have a separate patch that everybody applies to their games to enjoy the intended product. More publishers are doing something similar I believe. If you're planning on selling an adult game on Steam, I'd just go this route, saves you the headache of dealing with Steam's ever changing standards.

Uberpie created the subscribestar after he announced the intent to submit the game for consideration on Steam. We've already had this conversation several times in the past year here.

Also, you do realize why platforms like Patreon and Subscribestar exist, right? Because it allows creators to earn an income WHILE creating something so that they can have an opportunity to pay the bills and make a living rather than slogging through with debt and loans during the development process. Without such platforms many of the games you play on this site would never have been started.

The platforms aren't a replacement for retail.

No. The Steam version is simply the usual code with some added things (usually). They shouldn't have much to do to make it available without steam. How do you think games on here work that are pirated from steam? Uploaders here don't do some voodoo. I don't think you're aware how it works.

Again, their gross income is as much now on Subscribestar - if not more - than as they were when they were booted off Patreon.

history has shown their income won't dip that much and that they don't have to deliver anytime soon and still maintain subscribers.
