Not being afraid of throwing out bad code or rewriting full sections of your software is one of the core concepts of extreme programming.
I had a lot of success with it in my career.
Still when applied here I would have seen as more beneficial to either do a parallel development: s1 retail and s6 (5 part 2?) both with the new art and code approach.
Maybe it is a matter of resources, maybe it is a matter of a writer block or looking for the right writer to go ahead (please keep away the ntr writer from the main route), only the dev team knows.
Overall, no one can deny the success of TT, the only complaint could come from patreons that got screwed over the s1 redux distribution.
I'll wait a full season bundle before buying it anyway to avoid futher surprises, the game has enough traction as of now, so my preference is to support smaller (and more engaged) devs.
