Are you sure this is a bug? I am also playing on v0.3.09.1 and i cannot recreate your bug with Dullahan and Fire Elemental.

I appreciate how much these animations add to the characters, giving new amounts of personality & attitude through their details.

IIRC it temporarily gives you a STR buff, similar to incantations like Titan Strength it lasts only for a few turns. So it will grant some damage bonus, but maybe not if you're using a non-STR modifier weapon.
