I loved this game when it first came out, but I haven't kept up. Is this the only game that has everything, or are there other games that I should look for and play first? I'm asking because I see this is Chapter 3, but I only remember the first one, so I'm not sure if I'm missing a Ch 2, or something

well I'm gonna start with "The Beginning" but a little confused as well what the order is
lets see we have;

The Next Chapter v1.1

The Beginning v1.0

Old Chapter 2 v0.7.8

and then chapter 3 0.3

The others are just experience gathering. The old chapter 2 has some short stories which could be of interest, the latest version is 0.8.1.

I wish games like this and certain others that divide the game into multiple games would get noted under the installation notes in the OP so that players would know what's needed for a complete experience. Otherwise the same questions gets repeated over and over. Thankfully, it's not so bad here since there's another note in the OP about it, if a little a vague. Also does chapter 2 side stories have any besti or family content? Safe to assume there will be old and ugly bastards which is fine with me
