I downloaded the demo on steam and when I went to try it it said I needed a controller. I have one, I don't feel like reaching over to grab it right now but I just wanted to know if someone actually made a game for PCs without keyboard and mouse support?

I've played the demo without a controller attached without issues. The current UI doesn't make much sense for controller anyway. Maybe that was a Steam warning you were seeing?

I couldn't go further than the main menu... my laptop as a 4K setting at 3480x2160, the game starts as it was full screen at the same size but was actually half of it, occupying just 1/4 of the entire screen but the cursor was acting like the buttons were where were supposed to be. I couldn't even manage t make any change at all. How can be that we cannot use the directional arrows and the ASWD keys for a manual selection!?? Geesh...
Man... this is a terrible beginning for a game downloaded from Steam, kinda irritating. I pass on this for now.
