Hmm according to their latest update they want a talented animator sure which is nice, but those are expensive.
Better a diamond in the rough I'd say and help them improve over time one way or another.
But chances are when they are up to spec they'll might get better paying jobs.
Perhaps create/open an environment where you can train animators for this game that come and go, and if you make good relations they can come back?!

The issue is a bad animation is usually worse than no animation at all. If you get serious uncanny valley from a bad animation, that will turn you off both sexually and focus wise. Like consider this: If they added a new animation, that had facial animations like that in Mass Effect Andromeda... how would that make you feel?

Fully aware, but if they need good talent they either need to get lucky, pay a premium or cultivate. Now they seem kinda rudderless without one.
And if you can't afford the only other options remain. and Cultivating is not really a bad idea, there are slowly more games like these popping up.
Especially if you are on top of it, you could outsource your talent and what not, and or even help train new ones.
As for the current project they if can't use animations may as well use stills as place holders for the time being and hope to gain more patreons and or what not.
If the communicate clearly could open more options.

To be fair, asking someone why they haven't cancelled subs is fairly confrontational and not it's exactly like we're entitled to know, we can definitely guess though. I'd guess that it's because it's free money, I'm not one to argue about the morality of someone keeping a Patreon open without even posting anything on there to make it "worthwhile", it's not like people aren't in control of their own finances, I highly doubt a lot of people here would turn their backs on free money either, they might say they would but when you're in that position, let us know if you still feel the same.
