We really need more games like teraurge, the fact there hasnt been one for years is just odd.

I think many among us in this thread would like to make one, but we just don't have the time or necessary skills to pulll it off. I can code well enough to make a prototype that could be fun to play, but I really suck at drawing, and paying someone to do it for me isn't really possible at the moment. I would need to team up with someone with an artistic vision for the game, but given how niche this fetish is, good luck for that.

I'd guess that it's because drawing people is one of the more widely taught skills. Having a base that you know how to work with and adding things to it is within most people's capability. Human anatomy is also something you can pose and observe. Having literal alien anatomy and going for something that looks creepy and unconventionally sexy needs a bit more creativity and dedicated practice. The people who draw sexy girls already spend years getting to that point, so I'd have to assume that someone who wants to draw sexy monstrous girls has to spend years before it looks decent enough. And artists already have to spend a lot of time and effort drawing just to get by financially.

Honestly, if I didn't have a full time job and other stuff to do I would try to make something. I completely lack programming skills and my background art is not the best, but I am good enough in writing and my character art is very similar to what we have in Teraurge.

See, that's that thing. Most devs are in that very same position. That's why game development in general is a struggle and devs tend to burn out, get sick, become depressed, etc. It's wild to me how people just assume the worse in devs when you realize making a game is fucking hard.

Yeah, for sure. In a perfect world you would get enough funding to go full time, but that doesn't seem to be that common. I've been studying game dev for a while now, I might still try to do that one day; this was one of my favorite games back in the day. I'm just waiting for my programming skills to catch up, and maybe would try doing in 3d, as it would be less daunting to populate the world and faster to create variations.

Porn gaming is a niche market. Considering that "feral" itself is a niche subcategory of porn games it's no wonder why no one has put in the effort to mod or remake Teraurge in earnest. There just aren't that many devs dedicated to the fetish.
