Eh... that powershell command doesn't return anything, which I expected since I blocked the callout attempt.
And I've done what I can, will have to leave it to others to figure out if it's malicious or actually benign.
Damn, the newest update has really good animation. I hope the animation stays consistent, and the updates too. Seriously, the animation is so different compared to before. I thought everything was going to be changed, but turns out it’s only the new content…

Well, ping for itch.io gives the IP address 104.26.8.198.
In addition to numerous references to his page on itch, the developer also added a check for the latest version. It is located in VersionChecker.rpy.

Of course, it's better to double-check and ask a question than to simply ignore the warning.
In any case, I run everything in a sandbox with the internet blocked.

I can now understand why it took so long to get an update, to the point I cannot even complain about wanting more (the mother is still the best character in the game).

Well, basically, there are no problems — just run it. Except for the fact that the Windows sandbox does not allow you to restore files (saves, for example) — everything is deleted at the end of the session. Experts advise using OneDrive to save files from the sandbox, but I haven't done that.
By the way, why hasn't OP updated yet? Or has no one informed the mods?

It also happened to me. You HAVE to load or save exactly where it says "save here" in red. This is the solution for me ONLY if you use the walkthrough built into the game
