I'd recommend keeping the debug item in the same spot too. Though the other aspects you unlock are whatever, the debug tool is useful to muck about in the game tbh.
i've already done the maps and figured out how to make visible the progress in game. I'm testing it now doing a speed run of the game.
btw, ive seen that some things are needed:

when searching for the sphere of Vahn, some indication that a swhitch should be located.
when doing the quest of rat infestation, some indication about where the exit is.
also, in the sphere of vahn quest, some antidotes somewhere, bc with the enemies there Garnet is easily poisoned and if there are no antidotes is a game over nearly sure.
i dont know if putting a shiny mark on the search for the books quest. is an important quest that unlocks the spells.
i remember that when i played the game at the beginning, years ago, i got stuck in those parts.
but im afraid of doing the game too easy if i put hints. dont know.

I recently replayed the game, and I always stop at the same point, after I finish up the orc quest and have to go to the second town because it feels so big yet so empty I can never find what I am supposed to do, perhaps making the diary we pickup show our current main/sub quest

nah some hints & a few freebie basic items aren't too easy. As for -more- hints I dunno, unless the person is ESL they shouldn't struggle too much.

I'd recommend using cheat engine with the speed up hack set your frames/speed rate to 2-5 going higher or just simply 2-5 in that box. It definitely speeds up the game because transitioning day to night and back around takes like over 10 IRL mins or something but it's a decent bit of time. With CE this changes to just a couple minutes & can alleviate lag (maybe) but I'd also not recommend doing combat @ a low level with speedhack on, why? Oh it makes combat nearly impossible, enemies hit you a dozen times per second, while not utterly zany it seems like enemies have fixed damages at times - so the wasps you find in a few places for example will always hit 120-220 or so per strike which is A LOT. If Garnet is stripped nude too she'll take even more damage if she gets raped which is a fixed percentage of your HP by the seems of it I mean.

in order to respect the work of others, and since my goal was that Garnet finally would find her father, my main work was on that main plot line and the maps required for it. I guess that you didnt reach hell area, helador castle or the insides of white tower. I'm replaying the game now too, speed run, and there are some scenes in the part that i did that i think that may worth it (while there is a lot of room for improvement), like the "purple water" demonstration for the dali seller in white tower.

Yes, the library book quest is a pain in the ass. in the blog at the begining of this post there is the list of books and its location.
You need that quest to use magic spells, like thunder or ice. and are needed in the final areas.
I wish more people would reach the hell area, because was where i was working on when i stopped, and where i would retake the job as soon as im finished with bugs and tiny fixes/improvements.

i agree that carthage is basically empty. i added the underground bar and its scenes that help to find Felix and go ahead in the main plot line. and the sewers (that were only partially sketched). but there are a few side stories there, like becoming a dog, a slave or a whore.
Clairia is in worse state than Carthage. i added a shop, fixed and improved a scene there (that didnt work well and was sketched, the farming one) and retouched some details here and there.
Ikari didnt even have access. now is accessible and i think that someway it works good enough.
i did west dali and its northern area, and some other maps, its sewers.. which events are think that are well connected with the main plot: fixing murasama, for instance, or having a quest for the guild (abandoned house quest was existing only as a quest name).
but most of the parts that i did are playable or accessible without being a guild member, and obtaining that membership at the beginning can be a pain in the ass too if you dont know what to do. and the access to the whole north can be very tricky or directly unplayable without the books quest.
so.. i guess that i'll add hints to find the books. the first time that i played it , it took me too much time to find those damn books. and i only found 17, not 19. Thats the reason that nowadays the quest can be finished with "only" 17 books. i dont know where are the other 2.
The "trophy room" in which im working now i think that may help to keep the progress because when you dont have something, it says so (which someways breaks the logic of events, but i tend to think that is needed). I try to make it as coherent with the game as possible.
The diary.. by definition, refers to past events. im not sure how this would help to going forward if a player is stuck somewhere.

Now i'm still testing the trophy room. as soon as i think that is good enough i'll update the links.

a problem with spells is that .. well, you can have the hotkeys visible using the tab key in the keyboard. then you fill the spaces with the hotkeys submenu from the game. when you do that, then, you can use those spells.. which i havent figured out fully yet how they work. as far as i know you have 2 spaces in the upper right side of the screen where you can see what spell you and item you have ready to use, and then is the letter C + its number to use it.
i remember that time ago i fixed that part. was unplayable and the screen menu unreadable. i improved some things there, but some spells were unfinished. And i dont remember right now how to modify / improve that part. i have retaken this work recently after an hiatus.. and i didnt know that much either time ago.
but, someway, the spelling stuff seems to work good enough now. some spells are basically sketched (like one that makes garnet nude, and it seems that only does that).

about the rain.. i guess that i could check where its originated and change some values there. ill put it on the list of things to do.
about how long are days or nights.. when something is only for the night or for the day, its annoying that you need to wait. for some, days and nights come and go too fast. for those who need to wait, too fast is not fast enough. it depends. i think that , by now, ill leave it as it is.

i dont remember all the chain of events, but i think that if i were you, after orcs, abandoned house, rat infestation and crypt quests (which will give you good weapons and armors), and library quest, i would try to obtain the ikary crystal (i can improve it if you get stuck there; i've recently done a tiny improvent in that sense) and, if you do speed run, go north, to white tower, because that is needed to find Felix and keep progressing the main plot line.
Its important to keep in mind that at the beginning you should have an scene, before reaching carthage, where you obtain the broken murasama. it is a must. if you dont obtain it after the orc cave, while going to carthage, thats a bug that should be fixed.

when i'll have finished the "trophy room" (where it will say, partially, trying to avoid spoilers, what you should do next), my next task will be to add hints on the library quest and to make the end of that quest useful for the game mechanics, because is not fully clear which keys are involved in order to play. there is not explanation in that sense.

Well taberenc; do what you feel comfortable doing update-wise I mean, fix bugs do whatever. I wouldn't mind playing a more recent build of the game to see what you mean, the hell parts and the like i just tended to get side tracked in fucking around (lol) because it's fun to see how lewd Garnet can get as quickly as possible.

if you want to check it out, by now here is the tropy room in garnet's house.
This zip contains the 2 maps needed. put those files in the data folder instead of the existing files.
Is temporary, ok? Still working on it. But in my tests it seems to run fine enough.

still there is a tiny bug in a graphic part, but leaving and entering the room is enough to fix it. i think, in my tests, that seems to work fine enough.

(updated the file after uploading it because there was a missallocated npc there)

why? you can begin the quest, see what happens there (by night if you want to be able to open the door) and come back to the guild with the info.
When Garnet sees what happens there it seems that she thinks that more data collection and further investigation is needed, but in human player terms it counts as a completion.

I found a funny loop where Garnet wont become "lewd" despite many butthole invasions: Those lizard men fug her ass, it takes al ot to make her lewd that way alone actually. So you can stack the wolves in Hikari forest - but seemingly the ones that appear @ night in the woods to the north.. yeah Garnet will fug/get fugged by them however even after 30 times & 40 butthole invasions she's still not lewd. That's pretty interesting.
huh that was it, I hit the threshold - she became lewd like not even 4 butthole invasions later wew.

there are a few places with wolves, but i can add a switch that can make that, in a given point (after successfully finish whatever), a certain npc's are changed by others if you think that one works better than other. i did the ones that are on the north path bc i had problems with other ones.
but im not a programmer myself.
Wasps give a perversion of +10. zombies +6. i did lizards on +5. i could give them +6, like zombies and others, but they appear on early game stages. touching this parameters is a delicate thing that i prefer to avoid.

I just remember reading from somewhere that that particular quest was not finished, as in there's no way to get the rewards from the guild since the quest cut off/stops midway.

Look the attached image.
In there you see map of Dali. In it, some areas surrounded in a red line.
I did those areas. They didn't exist. The original map was the pieces of map without the red line around them.
The abadoned house is marked in the map with a yellow star. Did not exist before.
The abandoned house quest was not just incomplete. Its only existence was its name. All that it was about this quest was the name of it. So yes, was incomplete, so incomplete that only existed as a name of a quest.
Back then it had sense to say that was unfinished. In reality was not even started nor sketched.

I did the map, the house, its interiors and all what happens inside. And, in playing terms, when the guild asks you to do the quest, you manage to visit all the areas inside and you come back to talk to the guild, the guild guy, that only asked garnet to investigate, is satisfied enough with her answer and the quest is considered finished.

If you think that something could be changed or improved, you could cooperate. i can explain how to do it. And maybe you could make other improvements to the game. There are areas (like Clairia, carthage, ikari ...) that im sure that could get better with a little work. just to be careful on not crashing the game in the process. but if you are cautelous, you could do a lot of things and learn in the process.

there are some parts added by people like you that one day came and said to collaborate, like the dean's house in carthage.
i would need to test it first though, to avoid major unwanted problems.

the original state of the game is in github, the gegerlan version (you can visit it here: ). at that time i was only doing graphic stuff, like most of the armor deterorations (nearly all of them) and some scenes graphic parts. i was banned from github back then because of that.
