Is it just me or is the Dr. Vibes crowd WAY less toxic than a lot of others? Here's hoping for some news soon.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t really mean anything. The Doc has been listed as “last seen yesterday” or “last seen today” for quite a long time now. Similarly, Paperwork - the developer behind the unfortunately abandoned Project S.A.G.E. - also constantly appears as having been active recently, yet hasn’t made a single post in over five years. So, whatever this measures, it doesn't seem to be the dev's activity.
I just take it to mean they're lurking.Unfortunately, this doesn’t really mean anything. The Doc has been listed as “last seen yesterday” or “last seen today” for quite a long time now. No, he didn‘t pause patreon. This looks different. His patreon is under review. This is probably a sign, that he hasn‘t logged in on patreon for a long time. One can see the same thing for paperwork’s patreon. I saw it also for a patreon of a dev, who has probably died. (Sylvie Dreams)i dont know if it was his last post but he did say that he hit a roadblock in production because of vr being newish he kept running into problems and the problems taking along time to figure out a solution. because of all of this he said he was still working on it but was not giving a release date and believed it would be along while before he release anything more. i think he also paused any patreon as well because of that but i cant remember.
The Patreon account went on "under review" a bit over 3 months after the last post of the Doc, and he did before hint on health problems of his own and his wife. Before he posted something at least once a month. One can only guess, that he can't work at the game and post anymore for whatever reason.A great game, but why was it canceled? Nice graphics, and I had fun. Unfortunately, there are a lot of games like this that are canceled at once.
I could never understand that.Unfortunately, this doesn’t really mean anything. The Doc has been listed as “last seen yesterday” or “last seen today” for quite a long time now. My theory is most of them probably found a girlfriend and she made them get a real job. And then they kinda feel shy and self conscious about it so they don't say anythingI could never understand that.
If a developer does not want to continue the game (or unsure about the future of the project) - just say it.
Why stop talking to your fans?!
There was some speculation on the discord channel. But that was probably just hear-say and correlation.Am I misremembering things? Didn't someone report that this guy died in a natural disaster last year? I could've sworn that was in this thread somewhere... Maybe I'm thinking of someone else...
All that's really known about the absence of the dev is, that roughly 3 months after his last post, his Patreon-account went "on review". As this game doesn't really have content, which would be problematic for Patreon the only probable reason for this is, that the dev didn't visit his Patreon account since then. One can deduce from this, that he is probably not able to go to his Patreon account or post here or on discord for whatever reason.Am I misremembering things? You mean besides the fake incest? Or the sharing (which would upset the most vanilla of fans). My guess (assuming he's alive and well) is that the money just wasn't there. And that it wasn't worth it to invest in DAZ/Ren'Py. So, when the page went under review he had already decided he was done. All that's really known about the absence of the dev is, that roughly 3 months after his last post, his Patreon-account went "on review". He had the household quite well implemented with a good backstory, so it would hard to argue, that they were related. And the Sharing was optional. I think, there were also not a lot Sharing-Hater here anymore, as there was quite a heavy discussion quite in the beginning about an image in the game, depicting Dr. Vibes together with some love interests (as far as I remember all were naked). And there was an assumption, that in the end, Jake will become Dr. Vibes, but we will now never know. You mean besides the fake incest? Or the sharing (which would upset the most vanilla of fans). Well, we'll never know exactly why it got reported. But, the story beats with the housemates matched your standard incest games. And the word optional isn't in some idiots vocabulary. The mere fact that other imaginary dicks can go in your imaginary love interests is enough to set some guys off.He had the household quite well implemented with a good backstory, so it would hard to argue, that they were related. Additionally, you can see the same scheme with other devs who disappeared:

The latter two are actually the same person, and this dev is probably actually dead. This was at least submitted by a person, who said to be his wive. The accounts were then still active for a while before they went under review.
I think, Dr Vibes could have also easily used Ren'py, but it wasn't his thing. Ren'py is for free and not that complicated to learn and he would probably have had much less hassle with making his engine react like Ren'py.
But in Godot, the engine he used he could just add images and then put the text under them. That was more of his thing. I spoke with him about that. And DAZ, this would have been not much money, but much more work for him. I don't think, he ever really considered that.
One of the last things, that we heard from him was, that his wive had health problems. I think it was the heart, but not sure anymore. So I think, he wasn't the youngest anymore himself. Before he went radiosilent, he also posted every month 1 image, that stopped very suddenly. Three months later, the game went under review. Shortly before he stopped communicating, he also said, that he wanted to start wrapping things up and bring the game to an end.
And I could even understand if he wouldn't have finished it, because there would be not enough money. I don't know, if I had the energy to produce such a lot of masterly composited images and text every 3 months for just < 200 Dollar/Month. But he did do it for almost 5 years, what I highly respect.
Given the whole circumstances, I think it is just highly unlikely, that he stopped, when the game went under review but wasn't able to go online already for a longer time.
