Just checking in on you? How are things going?
Archmage: The plot outline for the two main branches is finished. I'm planning to finish the writing before I work on game mechanics. Monastery: I have since it was removed from this thread, and I have almost completed NPC dialogue and made some progress on quests. Some of this work is unpublished. Overall, I'm very behind where I would like to be at this point, but I am still motivated and plan to keep working in the future.

Unfortunately, I have a very full plate in real life at the moment and had to pause development over many of the past months. I have endless distractions and I might soon just force myself to sit down and finish an update regardless of what's going on. I have been working on: planning my wedding (it is semi-planned) and honeymoon (just booked this), working on my professional engineering licensure (will probably end up delaying this), starting up a financial planning business (more red tape than I was expecting, about 4 months in and still pending government approval - future working hours will be flexible), wrote my first book (currently pending with the editor), and working my day job (puts food on the table).

I'm sincerely looking forward to getting back to this project once some of these other items have become less demanding. It's more fun to work on, but more convenient to delay since there are no firm deadlines. I haven't taken a vacation in 5 years since finishing college and I've worked many night shifts and 80 hour weeks at my day job, so hopefully after I get back from the honeymoon in January I can refresh and reset my brain. I have been playing Lost in Laminate with some of my recent free time, which has been helping me get back into the text adventure headspace.

And how is the progress?
I'm working on my writing skills. I challenged myself to read 10 million words near the beginning of November. I've currently read 2.3 million. I've also done some more writing. I submitted a short story to the Writers of the Future competition. I have mapped out most of the quest lines for NPCs. Also just got back from my honeymoon.

Also, I have just created a . You may refer here for progress updates and my evolving thoughts on the development process...

I am actively working on The Monastery. You can see updates in real time on my GitHub repository's .

I started an unfinished Archmage update long ago (refer to progress document for current changelog). I do not have a public repository for The Archmage because GitHub Terms of Service prohibit pornographic content. I'm not sure if that applies to phonographic text, but I figured I'm better safe than sorry. I will make make that repository public if I can get confirmation on that point. For the time being, if anybody is interested in The Archmage's version history, you can request access to the private repository by supplying me with your GitHub username.

Note: I sincerely apologize for the hiatus, but real life takes priority and I am back in the saddle.

Cheers.

Thought: Is there an un-abandoned tag, I wonder...?
They'll just remove the tag. Don't know how far you'll have to go to have it removed. I've seen a game that hasn't been updated in ages, but it somehow avoids the tag by the dev dropping teasers often enough. So maybe saying 'hey, my pressing social obligations are done, I'm ready to resume development!' will be enough for them to peel it off.

The tag appear when there is some time without any updates or info about the project, for example, on patreon (i have not seen the discord) your last post was from APR 2, 2022, if there was posts there about your progress, they don't put the tag. The tag will be removed when there is a new update on the game.

Unfortunately, once the tag is there they refuse to remove it until you post your next update, even if you provide proof that the game is still actively being developed. There are ways to stave it off from getting added in the first place, including an "ON HOLD" tag, but only an update will get them to remove it. I've even seen games that are *completed* get marked with the "abandoned" tag because they went too long without the completed tag, and it doesn't get removed.

In #265-266 We've talked about this, that time the "Abandoned" tag wasn't even there.
