The older version has some of its files loose, but the new version has them in a archive. So merging the two versions would leave all the old files behind instead of overwriting them, and guess older the loose files are loading not the new ones.

So, what does the incest patch do actually? The MC keeps calling his mom by her name. Sons don't tend to do that a lot, do they? And as far as I can see, I could change the relationship without even using the patch (by clicking the heart icon).
