Definition of software piracy:
My highlight.
Not saying it is necessarily the case here but there's a notable difference between freely sharing intellectual work/culture(pirating/deeply rooted in human nature) versus using that intellectual work/culture for your own (usually directly monetary)gains without paying dues to the original creators(piracy/bootlegging).
The unauthorized use or reproduction of another's work.
Point is there is no real definition what piracy is so I dont see how these are for example less valid. As for legality of it all, that depends on where you live. Here where I live, I can legally download something and be OK, but if I upload something I am doing something against law, regardless if I am making money or not.
- Software piracy is defined as illegally copying software that does not belong to you in a manner that violates the copyright.
A example of software piracy is when you download a copy of Microsoft Word from a file-sharing website without paying for it
is not the same copying the art style than just stealing art, what corrupt King is using is stolen art from other games, he is not copying / drawing it himself like a lot of slave makers games do, is very different.when are all the slave maker games going to get crushed? Because I know 99.9% of them use stolen artwork.
Except no one said "copy art style" I said "Stolen artwork" Which I know for a fact that games like slave maker and brothel king (just to give an example off the top of my head) ALL HAVE LITERAL ARTWORK TAKEN FROM OTHER ARTIST in them as some of the art I could literally pinpoint where the art came from so no they don't. Hell, its not even slave maker games that do it either there were some rpg maker games and QSP games I played that also just took artwork.is not the same copying the art style than just stealing art, what corrupt King is using is stolen art from other games, he is not copying / drawing it himself like a lot of slave makers games do, is very different.
I dont know if he will ever put a patreon earning money with stolen art , is illegal and they can sue him easily, if you draw it no matter how close to the original is you atleast have the right to sell it in a way (as fanbase).
"No," and for a multitude of reasons.no way to uncensor it?
Yes exactly, it's a copyright violation which is the exact same thing that does site does. But it does not impinge on my moral compass because his infringement does not reduce the sales of the original work. In fact it's far less of an infringement than this site because there's no doubt this site actually does deprive the original creator of some money while he doesn't.ok stolen artwork = i hacked your PC and took the original file. Coped artwork means i found your work elsewhere made a copy of it and used it. so no its not stolen if the maker of the game took it from something other then the original owners personal device, its coped. think of it in this logic "like a painting". to steal a pained artwork i actually have to steal the original artwork for that to be stealing it, now if i took a photo of the artwork and put that photo on a website is that stealing the painted artwork.
as far as copy right goes if he isn't using the image to portray a character identical to the one in the original game then it is a hard case to sell as infringement unless the artist has a likeness copyright on the character, like Disney has on Micky Mouse.
