A lot of old saves don't work. You need to use a save from 0.78 or later or it won't work. Play from the begining.

So I tried the Jennifer scene in the gym again on a fresh save on 0.82 and the crash still happens, after you first talk to her in the cafe after getting normal look, and then go to the gym after 6am and see her there.
