From what I've gathered it seems like a mistake. Like it's cool to have cameos of other characters from different games. I think that adds a bit of fun. It's like Where's Waldo, except it's character from another game doing something random in the background. It's a little different though when they exist concurrently in the same world and are written characters, albeit minor ones, in the same story. I can see how some people got their jimmies rustled. I honestly had no idea this dev made the Emi games and I usually forget the characters names, if I haven't played in awhile. If there is an option to rename characters I will never know who anyone is talking about, because I rename everyone anyways.
