Thanks for the kind words! Please leave me a positive review her and/or on itch if you think the game is worth it!
To answer your questions:
Why RPGMaker?
I initially started using RPGMaker because of a decision I made when I first started making this game ~4 years ago. I looked up the pros and cons of different game engines and one thing that continually came up was that rpgmaker was a great beginner-friendly game engine. Additionally a friend of mine gave me some good advice when he said, "the engine doesn't ultimately matter, you can make a game in excel if you want to."
Here I am 4 years later and I think RPGMaker probably not the best choice for what I wanted to create. If I had it to do over again, I probably would have used Unity, or maybe an adventure game engine. At this point though I have twisted and contorted the engine into doing mostly what I wanted to though.
Influence the Ending
One of my goals is to make a very reactive and interactive game. When I first started making this game I was disappointed with what I perceived to be a lack of depth in adult games. However, I now realize that that is the case for two reasons:
1) people who want a porn game generally reward the devs (patreon/substar) for making porn rather than tons of depth.
2) adding depth to a game makes it exponentially more difficult and expensive to produce.
So I'm here trying to make a porn game with "depth", and its a lot of work so far with little financial reward (though very grateful for my small, but growing community of supporters!).
Now to more specifically answer your question on betraying Goblins and Molloch: I haven't decided yet.
Originally I had planned to have good/evil routes, and I might still do that. But aside from the aforementioned problem of not getting much reward for the added work, there is another problem that is more specific to the story of Greely.
With this game, I want to give the player permission to be the "bad guy". Greely is not a good person and he engages in abhorrent behavior that is illegal and immoral in real life. If I give the player the option to make good choices, then many people like myself will feel guilt and will find themselves making the "white knight" choices. In my opinion that can make the game less fun, because I'm not trying to make dating sim where Greely is romancing the different NPCs, he's sort of an irredeemable villain, even if we might sort of empathize with where he is coming from.
I would rather have the player choice focused more on what kind of villain he is, and maybe whether he has some kind of perverted moral code rather than a good guy/bad guy dichotomy.
To that end, maybe he will have some final decision at the finale where he can have some moral redemption.
That said, I'm also always open to suggestions.
Thanks again for playing my game!
NewGuy2020, Great game so far. the build up is really nice. And the system/mechanic is also very promising. The only criticism is probaly why RPGmaker? So far I don't see any advantage over Renpy for example. But hey maybe you have something planned.
Question though : Can we actually influence the ending/story ? Not only H content wise but the general story ? I hope we can actually also betray molloch and the goblins in the end. I mean what's the point of betraying the humans only to end up under someone again?
