I guess one important difference for me is that I've never watched (and barely heard of) that series. By contrast, I've heard of, played, and really enjoyed this VN.

I usually don’t comment on games I drop in the early stages, because I don’t like saying negative things based on the little information I have, but damn if the beginning of this game isn’t a total mess lol. I don’t know if it gets better later on, but while the core idea is simple yet interesting, the execution is honestly one of the worst I’ve seen in quite a while. Leaving aside the half-lust-crazed female cast—which in a porn game can be acceptable, even if it’s a pretty lousy device to justify the scens—the protagonist is really terribly written.
At least the English itself is good, I guess.
