A minor complaint from me is how the game has a tiered system for Alice's memories/fantasies/dreams.
The game goes through a list and plays the first one that hits.
If TonyChurchThing = Tony variant dream/fantasy
else-if CarlosThing = Carlos variant
else-if LeonThing = Leon variant
More or less, it seems to prioritize the more recent events in her memory, which does make sense from a story perspective, but I actually prefer the Leon variant even though my Alice ended up cheating with all the dudes lol.
It's a minor complaint because the alternative ways of presenting these scenes do have some cons as well.
- Let players pick the fantasy. Before game goes into a scene where it has to decide which variant to show, give a short internal monologue from Alice like, 'No... why am I thinking about...' Then give a choice for the variants with conditions met. Gives players more freedom but could mess with the flow of a particular scene to introduce a break like that.
- Show all the variants with conditions met one after another. This is a heavy handed approach. Plus, dev will need to alter the way the scenes are designed to accommodate something like this because currently, the memories are not just standalone segments but are integrated into its particular variation of the scene.
Personally, I think mixing both of these methods will be best, depending on the situation.
If it's a full fledged scene like the strip club or Dave sex scene where her memories are mixed with the current situation, letting players pick one would be ideal. If it's a more minor internal monologue or contemplation, have Alice think about all the cheating situations that apply.
