Also, more exclusive content for Daz Premier, and this one is going to be unwelcome to many (that it's exclusive to Daz Premier I mean):

Aiko 9 Anime.
It is interesting that they don't let you see the package content in order to evaluate whether a 'Premiere' upgrade is worth the cost...

How many will buy a package blind? It is bad enough that their sales language is deliberately obfuscated, and sometimes misleading, but not knowing what you are signing up for?

[EDIT] I just realised, this package isn't even advertised as a 'bundle' ... so it's just a Toon Character ... [/EDIT]

Seriously, if you need a background location for your latest VN/Game project, the PW Productions stuff is worth a looksee at least.

But I digress...

So don't be too intimidated. My comment about Filament wasn't an idle one either, I am genuinely curious as to how Airport Island/Mandrake Island renders would go in Filament. I don't use Filament though, and haven't bothered to learn, and have never worked with the assets in Poser 11, which I haven't used in years.
Well, I rarely use Filament, but I used it a couple of times. Good, much faster than Iray, less resource intensive, though colours not identical, and a bit kind of "cartoonish glossy (for skins)" - but that can be because I just switched to Filament in the preview, and even rendered an image, but did not use any tool for the Filament conversion or specific Filament material.
About VRAM, one card with 12GB on one computer, two cards with 24GB on one computer, and two cards with 32GB on another (though this one does not have DAZ, and those cards are older, pre-RTX generation), that is what I meant with good graphic cards.
Though only bought new, the 12GB, some years ago, the others, all second hand, and bought over time, already like this, I probably wasted some money, for what I am using them for, but if I had tried to buy them new, it would have just been impossible.

BTW, watch for an orange banner today. If you are 'worthy', you can get up to $40 of selected items for free if you grab a new release today, and discount stacking seems to be in play, particularly for the stuff that is over 40% off already (say 70%+ off as an example). The stuff may or may not interest you, but free is free. I ended up including several bundles for cheap to hit the mark, even as 'only' a Daz+ member,. I have 7 tokens that I needed to burn, and it's 'double token Tuesday' so if you have a few tokens to burn...
Thanks, though no luck. The only banner was advertising premier, and when I put something in the basket and went for checkout, no mention of double token, I have 9 that expire in a few days, I will wait for my credit card cycle to complete and then see what to do :)

Even Rhiannon joined the store now, oh boy.
That kind of sucks.

Rhiannon only has older items in his store as far as I can see. But that may just mean the rest comes later. His store on Renderosity is still online though, maybe the newer stuff will first appear on Rendo and then come to Daz later.

It becomes difficult to see how Renderosity can survive, there is very little incentive for buying there if all the good artists migrate over to Daz anyways.

For Vicey3D it seems he/she is going to maintain two stores. Not sure if PA's earn more on Renderosity, but their prices sure are higher there. Maybe we need to collectively try to buy some of their stuff on Renderosity so the thing doesn't collapse entirely.

EDIT: Oh hey, what am I spotting there on Lucia in Vicey's store? A "Premier Release" badge! What is that?

Also, couple of good ones on renderosity imho:
(good shoes)
(shaping stuff, sexy clothes)
(kind of neat fantasy buildings)
(kind of janky but cool props and clothing, some really detailed and unusual stuff)
(anime clothing)
(male clothing with usually a lot of morphs)
(way too much cute female clothes)
(female clothing with really nice fabric shaders)
(male and female figures with really distintive looks, not just the usual dolls)
(more cute clothing, like lilflame basicly)
(nice environments, mostly indoor)
(more indoor enviroments, with separate pose packs, also some props packs)
(also on Daz, but I think some of his really nice clothing is still only on Renderosity)
(clothing with usually lots of morphs)
(from renderhub, showed up on Daz as well, sexy figures)
(lots of revealing clothing)
(I like her because of the thicc figures)
(figures with textures that try to look relatively realistic)

Well, I just added those so you guys can go and buy stuff on renderosity. It seems quite a few of those are the "best selling" ones anyways, so probably easy to find. But hey, maybe it convinces some of you. Besides, what are the hidden ones you would recommend that I am missing?

I've been buying several goth outfits by Rhiannon on Renderosity for the last month or so. I even have a Premium sub running on Renderosity. And I share Schlongborn's worry about Renderosity's future. I've seen wishlisted items on Rendo removed from my WL as a consequence of their migration to the Daz store. That is starting to look like a trend. It's good for us customers that there's competence between different stores.

Agree. One can gets better prices at daz, but this may be the final nail in the coffin for rendo.

No. Renderosity probably has not been notified of the transfert. But daz (contrary to the other stores) does not accept to have an item shared with another store. In a few hours, all the daz assets will be removed from rendo.

I buy from time to time at rendo. They post every week a 20% coupon, but unless if you are "prime", very few sales are over 50%.
But honestly, I think that nothing can save them. They have for years a nasty policy with artist that, for instance, have to pay to appear on the front page. (see this post by Sickleyield ). And when they decided to dramatically cut on the artist share, this provoked the crisis that we see.
The artist drain will probably continue, but Renderosity has a large set of old stuff and a captive Poser market, and they will probably get by for several years.

Shredder (and his great environments) is definitely missing. He is also at renderhub and sharecg, but rendo can have much better discounts.
And for envs, Truform is also missing. His envs are (generally) very good but expensive and rarely discounted. ShaaraMuse3D can also have interesting stuff.
DM have modular environments coupled with poses. Their stuff is generally very good, but quite expensive.
For the cloths, I also like OneSix or Karth. They are not very active, but they have simple skimpy clothing with many morphs.

Neither of these is presently at daz (excepth DM and Karth for some very old stuff).
For the artists that (already) have a store at daz, I would also cite Powerage/Christophe3D (envs/cloth/props/poses/music/etc uneven quality but some assets are very good). And for the chars, I also like maddelirium with some unusual characters.
ChrisCox has transferred most of his clothing stuff at daz, but the few remaining at rendo are very good.

Just something I noticed for the present daz3D sale (but probably everybody has already seen that).

If you are interested by a new release, you should wait one day till it becomes "still new".
"Debut new" release have an extra 20% off (over the standard 30% discount), that is 30%+20%=44%off
But the "still new" releases can get an extra 35% off for a final 30%+35%=55%off (this requires the purchase of debut new release, but some are very cheap).

This policy, that discourages people from buying brand new assets, seems completely silly to me (but I am not a marketing specialist).

Not necessarily, he/she can split it between Daz and Renderosity so that items on Daz are not on Renderosity anymore, but his/her newer stuff could stay on Renderosity for now, and not appear on Daz. Like Vicey does for example.

With all these artist moving over to DAZ, do their products now come packaged for DIM? Trying to install a product from Rendo was frustrating enough that I usually avoided them.

DIM packages yes.

HOWEVER, the metadata often hasn't been updated, which means that a lot of said products will not appear in the Smart Content pane. You can assign the metadata manually, but it's a bit of a pain.

Thanks, the DIM package is the most important part. Think I remember how to add a product to Smart Content, but with the DIM package, it was easy to uninstall and reinstall when there was a problem. It's been a while since I've touched DAZ but have been thinking about installing it to my newest PC.

There's an utility sold on the Daz Store that someone on these forums recommended to me to make DIM-ready packages of any 3rd party asset products (Renderosity, Renderhub, Renderotica... you name it). This is the application: the . I can't recommend it enough. Since I started using it, everything that I add to the Studio is installed with DIM.

I can see the new user of the application taking a little bit of time to learn how to operate it. But it's actually not that complicated. And once you've created your first few DIM-ready packages with it, you'll know how to use it thoroughly.

By the way, today's 20% discount on the Daz store orders if you include a Welcome artist item in your cart applies to gift cards as well.

OK, so today's $2.99 Daz+ ($1 if Premier) doorbuster item over at Daz3D.com seems like a pretty essential item to have (if you don't have it already), particularly if you've been looking for a way to backport Genesis 9 clothing items to older figures. I've been grabbing a few G9 items, mainly as prereqs for sales, and wouldn't mind using them occasionally...

I'm lazy so I don't like to have to go through a lot of steps just to make clothing work, and autofit is a 'must have' for me. I need to look into if there are more autofit clones for Genesis 8, I just have the 'four basic options' and V4/M4 clothing items haven't been playing nice with my G8 figures (looks like SickleYield has a product for that), but I digress.

Looking over the rest of the sale, the Daz Originals bundle deal has a fairly expensive prereq (Toon Environment Addon Bundle, around $30).

I'm a bit confused about FilaToon, but since I'm not planning on installing 4.23 anytime soon, that doesn't apply to me currently. I am curious to see if any adult game developers embrace FilaToon - the last time I checked 'hand drawn' games were generally the most popular over at Patreon. I'm sure a few will, I'm mainly just interested in seeing the results. I plan to stick with Iray for my current project.

Some super hottie standing outside of the Mariana Trench Resort (PW Productions)

I'm also somewhat curious to see how nicely the FilaToon shaders play with Dictator, NGV7/8, etc.

Not sure if anyone has tried using Genesis 9 with Daz 4.16 around here. If anyone actually HAS tried using G9 with an older version of Daz Studio, feel free to sound off. I'm ultra paranoid about breaking my older scenes, I've been Daz-zing since 2017.

Rest of the sale looks pretty par for the course, as usual, sound off if you spot any particularly interesting deals.

BTW, just rendered this shot of Mandrakia Island.

It's essentially a 'default full load', with these changes:

1) I moved the gate onto the island and shrunk the gate base and associated parts from 100% to 30% (it should be around 28.5% to match the inner dimension of the gate portal in SG1, I just like round numbers)

2)used a different ocean texture and of course the sunset HDRI from the asset)

3) Added two cute Thanagarians for flavor.

4) Rendered at 4K, reduced to 1080p in Photoshop with the two minor color adjustments (curves, brightness/contrast) that I usually do to make things pop a bit more.

This render came in at about 22.7GB of VRAM according to task manager. Note that my desktop runs on a different GPU, so the GPU is essentially 100% dedicated to the Daz render. I was seeing over 16GB of VRAM used on the graphics card in the Iray viewport without any additional assets btw.

So yeah, I'll probably be shutting off areas of the island when I render here, I just wanted to see how VRAM intensive it was, and figured y'all would appreciate the info.

---

But I digress. Has anyone else noticed that the Daz+ assets haven't really been on sale for decent amounts in the last couple of months? Usually in these October sales we see decent deals on Daz+ items, and I have a bunch of them in my wishlist that have been waiting for a decent drop in price, but no joy...

It was (still is actually) relatively easy to do that yourself following this tutorial:

Might be worth doing it at least once to learn how it's done, though I'd still just get this for $2.99/$1.00 instead of manually making clones for all figures.

I find it ironic using 3D modelling software to render 2D images, although I do see scenarios where the juxtaposition of the two styles might be interesting ... on my ToDo list it goes ...

I think the move to anime is a good idea, and I'm not even a real fan of the anime style. DAZ can't compete with AI for realism, and while some DAZ characters are becoming more realistic many of the old school artist are still turning out poor quality clothing that are not keeping up. So I don't see much of a future there.

Without doing a proper count, the impression I'm getting it that the Koikatsu games are at least as common as the HS and DAZ games. If the Koikatsu developers move to DAZ instead they could then sell their games on Steam and GOG which would be a huge benefit.

Here's the list of the top adult game Patreon earners:

Out of the first 10 top earners, one uses Daz Studio characters, another uses Honey Select, while the rest lean into the hand drawn, or at least hand drawn looking styles.

Really the only developer with a name I recognize is Llamaman Games, although I've also played Taboo University by Oppai Man games. That's the developer using Daz Studio that currently ranks #2 on the earners list. I'm guessing they have a somewhat sizeable team based on the number of titles they are currently juggling.

Edit: Although, weirdly, I've now looked at two titles listed on the Oppai Man games patreon, and they have different developer names in the threads here. Things that make you go hmmm...

Of course, a number of developers now hide their Patreon earnings, so they may no longer appear on this list.

Actually, that list is also someone else missing that makes big bucks, and in that case, it is considered a fact, by his own words, that is alone, Wildeer
To get access to any video, the minimum subscription is 5 or 10 (I remember someone mentioning 20 to get the new videos) per month, so, even forgetting the 20 and keeping it at the lowest end (5), it means more than 20k per month.
Though it does not inificiate your point about the most biggest earners not using Daz, Wildeer uses Blender (whether than he also get something from Daz and exports it to Blender, I don't know, but still, his main tool is Blender).
