OK, this is a little late, but there's still a bit over 2 hours left in this flash sale...

$2.99 on up to 10 items if a new release over $1 is in your cart. There are a few bundles in the mix (sort high to low to spot these), so could be worth a looksee...

Over at Daz3D.com...

TODAY ONLY Bundle For a Buck

Buy any one or more of these bundles

to get any one of these for $2.99*
$1.99 for Daz+ or $1 for Premier members

There are 38 older bundles in the mix, I'm guessing that a few of you have all of these already, but if not, this seems like a 'buy one get one for cheap' deal, and I'm not seeing deeper discounts on these bundles sooo - I own all of them already so someone else will have to test the cart prices...

I miss the 'buy one pro bundle get 3 older bundles for free deals, but that was a LOOONG time ago at this point...

Rest of the sale seems like more of the same, at least for the June sale...

---

Over at Renderosity, more of the same. The weekly midweek coupon is only 15% off this week...

Renderosity is having it's semi-annual store sale. There's not many things with prime, I think, but it's useful for those that don't get discount often.

One thing that I hadn't notice is that Ravenstone opened his/her store again, but at Rendo.

He/she has some great products.

I'm getting some stuff now ,they need to standardize the daz originals made by daz originals . The fragmentation is wild and I just realized unless your character is much older the hd add-ons are irrelevant especially if your using mods like real hands/feet.

I don't think Daz has ever been the 'Created By' artist (someone correct me if I'm wrong), just the 'Published' artist (PA), the distinction is only available in the product's ReadMe page (where available); the Artists listed on the product's sale page are usually a merger of the two although the 'Created By' is not always available for reasons ...

Daz is abysmal at maintaining, persisting and publishing product metadata and has been known to delete product metadata in cases they deem it detrimental to their current sales focus or product reorganisation.

A consistent victim of the later is the metadata associated with product bundles.

It's all part of their sales strategy. Fragmenting products oblige customers to buy more to get the desired result. This topic has also been discussed on the Daz forums. Not that long ago, the newly released core Genesis character (mega) bundles (like Victoria 9, Michael 9 and so on) were a more attractive purchase, because they included a lot of products, including the essential ones for each figure, and the pricing was better overall. Not to mention that Victoria 9, for example, didn't need an HD Add-on because she already was HD to begin with. Nowadays, they split the bundles and the new core characters generally have a separate HD add-on, included in the HD character bundle, which is usually composed of only four items, two of which consists in the character him/her self and their HD add-on, kinda making a bad use of product slots in that bundle.

P. S. I believe that HD details in general require at least level 3 render SubD. Aged characters certainly seem like a very good option to showcase HD. And also for close-ups, regardless of the character's age.

Hmm in the case below your saying the metadata often reveal the artist details however daz in known to delete such meta data? For instant as a G3 Lilith 7 is phenomenal and blows many G8 & 9 away in terms of quality and detail, would love to know who created her to view their releases but it's not there. I also do think most of Daz artist are just a collection of either outsourced or in house workers given different nicknames and styles lol one artist may have 4 names with 4 distinct styles.

Yeah it's great for biz but bad for the overall experience.Their pro bundles would include so much even 1 or 2 secondary characters based on the original but still unique looking. I get the business angle but it's annoying AF , got Ava and Brianna 9 today, was about to get the hd addons and im like wtf it's barely any changes , lip, hands , feet mods will be use regardless.I can get 2 characters for that addon price. My characters are milfy and gilfy the subd3 necessary , comparing ms chow to against ms chow hd. The hd is clearly not optional for others tho sideeye...

Base character , Hd addon , Shape addon , oh yeah if your a premier subscriber you get a character Mod too. Wild work.

Whilst there may be some in-house artist working at Daz, I think there are many more independent artists that use Daz as a Sales platform, witness the recent movement of artists from Renderosity to Daz3D; with regard to nicknames, yes some artists do use different names on different platforms. I have found products on different site catalogues that appeared the same as one I followed on another site by a different artist; when I asked the artist, they confirmed that it was them on both sites.

Also, I have noticed different smellings for the same artist on different sites.

A lesson to avoid purchasing duplicates, is to be aware of this and if the style, genre, product or artist names are similar check that you haven't got it already in your library. I learnt this too late to avoid having some duplicates :sneaky:

daz in known to delete such meta data
There are a few valid and some nefarious reasons to change metadata, such as the vendor has acquired fully exclusive rights to the product, including accreditation, etc.

Unless I am deluding myself, prior to the dismemberment of Mega, Pro and Starter Bundles the packages used to have metadata in and in the since the change to the new 'Character', 'Add-on' and 'Texture' Bundles the old metadata on the for the bundles was removed; new bundles do not have ReadMe data anymore.

One of the things I miss was the old 'Buy the Bundle and only pay for the products you don't have' I used this, primarily to get the bundle metadata for the bundles I had acquired organically, but also to complete bundles for which the missing individual items had never reached the bundle discount in other sales promos.

Base character , Hd addon , Shape addon , oh yeah if your a premier subscriber you get a character Mod too. Wild work.
Yeah! missing the Mega Bundles; for example, the included 16 products, , and as well as hair, outfits, textures, props, expressions and poses

New batch of freebies over at Daz3D.com...

Or, as I usually do every week, just sort the main shop page from low to high to spot new freebies...

On the quality discussion, when in doubt, you can always wait for the 'usual suspects' to share packages, and test the packages before spending money on them. Not all products end up being shared, but I've been burned a few times on blind purchases, that ended up not looking as good as they do in the promos.

Of course, you could return stuff that is garbage through Daz Customer Service if the quality just isn't there but that takes extra time and effort...

Often vendors will 'sign' their texure maps, but I just looked at a few of the DO 'Pro' G7F characters (Lilith, Aiko, Teen Josie, etc.) and the maps have no such signatures. So no clue who originally designed Lilith 7. I did quickly scan a Lilith 7 thread from when she was first released, didn't spot any clues. Same with the file list in the readme, folder names are pretty 'generic', no clues there.

Over at Renderosity the 'up to 65% off' sale ends today if that interests you. Someone has already commented on this sale, I'm just noting the expiration date.

Sigh that lilith is real good tho , and is next level with the mats. Most "Good" Artist stay consistent even if they colab with others, for instance some G9's without a sub artist have flaweless textures/mats etc . We would expect artist to sell on multiple marketplaces usually items exclusive to a marketplace offer higher profit splits.

Also for those who need commercial licenses if it's not listed (items outside dazstore) you can contact the merchant as they likely forgot to turn it on spoke to 3 artist and it was the same thing. And items with just the personal licenses on somewhere like renderhub they often have on renderosity with the commercial/extended licenses.

Btw Monique 7 HD Add-On is on the free list , can probably convert to another gen and use universally.

Men of Culture. Greetings.
Searching for a vendor who disappeared from the Daz store, I found he's moving to this website.
I wasn't familiar with that site, but I found it interesting, and I'm sharing it with you

The June sale is over at daz3d, but the last weeks were so bad, that nobody saw a difference between the sales and everyday offers.

There is though a good offer today. Buy a "Steamy" new release and get up to five items at $3.99
Two aspects are very interesting.
1/ some assets are very expensive (and very good). Many envs by PW Productions at $90+ (these envs are just incredible, but you need a very good computer to use them), many bundles by Polish at $60, some recent DO bundles, etc. Expect 90-95% off
2/ the $3.99 price can be even lowered if you have a few tokens (the sale states that "Offer does not stack with other discounts" but it does indeed. Probably a glitch, but no reason to complain)

I also noticed that when you purchase a bundle, a popup appears saying
This product includes the following item that you already own:
A discount will be applied to this product in your cart.
I experimented with undiscounted bundles that I partially owned and it works. If this is a permanent sale policy, these are great news.

OK, today's Daz3D.com sale has an interesting twist. 60% off latest/70% off recent/80% off classic/90% off legacy featured artist releases with NO Prereqs required.

Grabbing a 'Liberty' new release supposedly nets you an extra 20% off wishlist items... but it didn't work on the 'Legacy' item that I just tested in my cart...

Edit: There appears to be a $2.99 minimum on Legacy items. I was able to trigger the extra 20% off (92% instead of 90%) on a more expensive legacy bundle, but yeah the $2.99 seems to be a hard floor, even though it's not mentioned on the sale page. The 'discount for bundle items you already own' seemed to trigger though on another bundle that I tested, but the $2.99 minimum was still a thing. 8 tokens applied seem to have a $2.09 minimum on said legacy items, $1.65 if they are DOs...

Most of you probably are more interested in recent/classic items of course, hopefully y'all find decent deals if said sale interests you. Might be an interesting time to fire off Daz+ coupons...
