Ren'Py - The DeLuca Family [Season 1] [HopesGaming]

After playing the game for a few hours I can honestly say that I'm disappointed. The renders are pretty good, but there aren't enough animations during the very slow build up of intimacy. I know the developer wants to build up the relationships and the storyline, but the lack of more intimate events has been lackluster to say the least. Maybe in another 6 months to a year when he finally makes it an "adult" game with more lewd and sex scenes the game might be worth a 4 start rating.

With the lack of intimacy and sex this game doesn't really get a "rise" out of me at all. I thought this game had real potential, but most of it is pretty boring especially with the "contracts". Hitting a button for the different contracts and not seeing any type of actual play seeing the MC doing them is boring. It's almost like playing the old style html games with just dialogue to read. Maybe in another year or two there will be a decent amount of events and sex scenes to make playing this game worthwhile.

EDIT: Some users on the thread for the game don't agree with my low review. First of all it's a free country and I have the right to review a game how I want. You don't have to agree with it, but please don't call my integrity or character into question. I gave the review on "my" experience of what I was expecting or hoping the game would be or for what it was. The tags listed to me don't equal "sexual content" to a certain degree from what I'm used to playing in "adult" games". The game has a lot of potential, but from what I've played with the whole game it didn't deserve a higher rating in it's current state of play. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

At first I was skeptical playing this game after seeing lots of complaining about the lack of sex scenes. Even so, the few pictures I have seen has convinced me to give it a try. Oh man, what a ride. I didn't even care about sex anymore, just wanted to play and never stop.

This game is simply amazing! One of the best AVN I've ever played. I love everything about The DeLuca Family. Characters with unique personalities, emotions, good animations and pure art like reflections, shadows and light.

If you are looking for something different this game is for you.

Captivating story, interestingly unique characters, great setting, humor, quality art, befitting music, this game has it all.
A true joy to play.
Definitely recommended to anyone who is looking for storytelling and character development in a game, rather than a series of nonsensical sex scenes with no depth whatsoever. This game is for a niche audience. Not everybody would appreciate what it offers, but for those who set their expectations for it as a heavily story-focused adult game first and foremost with some erotic scenes in-between, and not the other way around, it would be an amazingly fulfilling experience.

I've been playing hundreds and hundreds of games from this site and this is one of the best I've come across.

Pros:
1) Very nice and unique models
2) Very compelling,complex,unique ,emotional and intriguing story
3) Very nice animations
4) Unique and very interesting characters filled with a top notch complexity
5) Various story twists which will keep at the edge of the seat
6) Wonderful mafia setting

Cons: Nothing worth mentioning except long time between updates

I am glad I chose this game to pop by VN cherry in this forum. Great storyline, great characters, great humor and dialogues, one of the more beautiful games that I noticed out there. Unlike some games that are just gratuitous sex, this game really tells a story with eccentric characters and I love them all. The storyline has a nice flow and lets you move on when you are ready. Keep up the good work!

Believe me, most people who are rating this game on a high note should probably be a bot, if not, it’s because you’re not looking for a porn game, but a visual romance with a little bit of eroticism. But you must be wondering what the problem is with this, very well, the game has no sexual content! How could I say? is a game made for blueballs.
History:
A story developed for people +14, completely childish and silly. It is not because the game has a crime theme (graphics violent) that you will think it is for adults, this is completely wrong. The story of the game is stupid, without a perverse involvement.
Gameplay:
Extremely bad and very tiring. The grind of this game it is quite annoying that you will have to use cheats to go faster.
There is not much to do in the game, watch the tips and follow. Boss's Entrance is a place for you to earn EXP and money, but it is a somewhat poorly constructed mechanic. Sincerely, it's a WASTE OF TIME.
Graphics & Sex Content:
The renderings of the girls will depend a lot on your taste. Luna, Grace and Isabel have great renderings, now, there is a character that I was wondering here, of so many exaggerations that I have seen, that does not make sense. Yes, I'm talking about Cordia. A woman of almost 50 years old with the body of a young woman of 30. As for sexual content, DOES NOT EXIST! Yes, there is no sexual content, the tag is saying oral sex and vaginal sex, but I didn't see that. So, forget to know if there are animations, there isn't.

Why I did gave 1 star?
I saw that the game has no sexual content and so I was curious to know if it really is a good game or not. So, what a bad game, bad story, bad scenario and bad gameplay. Talking about the story, it seems to be an interesting game but it is not, when you play it you will notice that it is more like a childish game than an adult game. The game works on character building, the developer wants it, he chooses not to make the girls not easy to conquer, I think it's cool, but the development of this is terrible and some dialogues make you sleepy. The gameplay of the game is not very good, I have seen worse, but without a cheat money you end up spending most of your time. About the sexual content, it doesn't, and I see it as wasteful. Anyway, if you are looking for a game for pleasure, which has at least sexual content even if it is little or decent, do not try this game, very childish. Unfortunately it is wasted work, or is it not? with so many bot rating this game, I am surprised that this game is among the most liked on the first page. But know that when you play this to test it, you will see that this game has no sexual content at all, and you will be very disappointed. Don't waste your time, DON'T WORTH IT!

As of this review the game has one thing going for it which are the renders. I see that the story and characters are praised a lot but for the life of me I can't see where that praise comes from. I can see what the dev is trying to do but for me both stories and characters are comically stupid and take itself way too seriously.

There's also the issue of this game not having barebones sexual content even at this point. Again I get that the dev wants to build up the characters and the world, but at this point it's kind of ridiculous. If I wanted to read a badly written novel with equally bad characters then I can find better options to amuse myself than waiting months for this game.

Awesome game. Fun to play, cool story, great models. Right up there with Halfway House, Being a DIK, Treasure of Nadia, and Become a Rockstar for games that I get excited for when an update comes out. The semi-sandbox but with a pretty linear storyline is a plus for me, too. Good tips and hints without ruining the fun or giving all of the answers.

If I have to list my 3 favorite games, this will be one of them. Characters are amazing, you'll feel connected to at least one of them.
Storytelling is very good and the plot is interesting enough. It's very different than your generic mafia stories. Of course, not everything is perfect about the game, but they are improvable.
There is a hint system for finding out what you are supposed to do if you feel lost.
Grinding is a bit boring, but that system will be changed in the future I think.
The game has few H-scenes for now, but it's a story driven game and after playing it for a while, you don't feel the need for them anyways hahaha
Overall a very good game with amazing story. 10, maybe 9.5/10

My first and my favourite Visual Novel. I like it for story, interesting dialogues, humor, beautiful heroes, background music, absence of incest scenes.

I always look forward to the release of the next part. The only negative is that updates are very rare.

OK story, but also a very repetitive grind.
Unlocking a certain event sometimes takes forever. Just hit "sleep" over and over will eventually get you there it seems.
Peek in the shower! And always get the same images.
Characters are somewhat 2 dimensional. Likable, but pretty shallow.
Sexy animations are non-existent, but that can be excused. A good game can get away without them.

I've been reading many previous reviews and most has been said already, but when it comes to pile up the good grades for the sake of it, this game clearly deserves a massive one.

Yes, the writing is excellent - Yes the story is brilliant and very immersive - Yes it deserves all the attention and support it can gets.

I saw few complaints, somes about a lack of lewd scenes which clearly not an issue because this is not what i was looking for here. You can find hundreds of other games for that, but barely a handfull of devs who can create a solid story. And this what you get here !
Complains about a particular scene, well, it is an important part of the psyche built of one of the char so...where's the probleme here? To give exemples that the "plaintives" can understand, would you remove the death of Bambi's mother or the one of Harry Potter's parents !?
What's make a great story, it is the rollercoaster of emotions, it keeps you involved and attached to... and this is what you'll find here.

So, brilliant game, very talented dev (team), thus problably, to my eyes , among the very few best you can find at the moment.

This is primarily a novel and secondly an adult game. The developer devotes a lot of space in the story to describing the personalities of not only the main, but also the side characters. At the beginning of the story, MC finds himself in the world of the mafia and slowly begins to uncover layer by layer the processes and forces that drive this world. At the same time, he gets the opportunity to get to know the main characters of the DeLuca family. Initially only with the help of hints, which only at a later stage acquire a deeper meaning. It makes sense to play the game several times, in order to recognize the meaning of small things that may initially seem insignificant.
The story then alternates day and night within the moods it evokes in the player. It is therefore necessary to expect even very dark scenes, so that MC can appreciate scenes with a positive charge more. For the time being, the game contains only light eroticism, without sex scenes. For whom sex scenes are important, let them deduct an asterisk from my rating.

I love the game i have been coming back looking for updates when ever i can and i love the story the creator has made i don't care how long it takes for more updates as long as they keep staying at this level

There're a lot of review alr so i just make it's short. i love it. 1st time i play a game on f95 and i read every single line of the story. those girls are amazing, unique, relate and funny. gonna look foward to the future patch.

Absolutely Fascinating
The Story and Plot is Interesting enough to keep engaged but the character involved are so amazing and lovable that you can't help but connect with them.
This is a story driven thing though, not somewhere you just tap buttons to get to the lewd parts, but thats exactly why I love it so much, it makes the lewd parts all the more rewarding when you connect with the characters and actually care about the story.
Can't wait for more updates to come, 5/5 from me

1. Beautiful Animations with Unique Characters having Vivid Personalities
2. The Story is very well-written and just keeps on getting better with each and every version. Been playing since the first release and the story hasn't disappointed whatsoever.
3. The game has quite a few scenes for considering the long run of 'The DeLuca Family' but believe me the immersion in the game is so fascating that it won't let you down
4. The combat system which has the missions for promotion thing among others is quite grindy at times but everything is explained properly with hints.
5. Regarding the long updates, 'The DeLuca Fami;ly' hits home with its slice of life kinda story and background of characters, so don't be disappointed, The dev and his team really put in a lot of efforts to this.

Hands down the best story and character development of any adult game I've played. It's also really funny and quirky in a way that enhances the world and the characters in it. The pacing is a bit slow, but it's worth the build up. Areas for improvement are the animations and sound effects.

I can only agree with the others and say this game is great.
Not much pornogrhapic content but for once a good graphic novel where you want to read the story and discover what happen to the characters.

EDIT: close to zero new contents after two years, what a shame.
