I don't know, I do a lot of dnd games and was hoping to try my shot at a great story game with unique characters. Thing is, daz is expensive for assets. Artists charge a lot. Would be awesome to find an artist to team up with, Ai is almost there in terms of Quality, someone gave me a good link but it went dead the next day before I could get cracking on it. These projects are a bit much for one person otherwise if you want to do it well.

i mean, why would they care about ppl that dont give them money? pretty sur they stopped because they wasn't making enouth money, no? i get that you are pissed tha the game will never be finished, as i am, but imo, you can't rly blame them if you didn't pay and juste pirated the game...
But form what i understand they went silence for year even for their buyers? well yeah that sucks

Even though F95zone is technically a pirate forum, it’s still the largest and most comprehensive platform that promotes and brings together Western visual novel games. Therefore, even if people don’t directly pay developers, by discussing or rating the games, they can increase their popularity — which in turn can provide significant indirect profits to the creators. That’s why I don’t agree with the saying “If you don’t pay, don’t complain.” Many visual novels wouldn’t even exist today if it weren’t for F95zone and its community.
F95zone might boost visibility, but visibility isn’t income. If devs aren't getting paid, they have every right to walk. Exposure doesn’t put food on the table ...
Saying 'don’t complain if you don’t pay' isn’t about gatekeeping; it’s about basic respect for labor. You wouldn’t expect a restaurant to keep serving you for free just because you tell your friends about it. Same applies here. If a dev quits due to lack of funds, that’s not them betraying the community — that’s the community failing to support them.

If HopesGames hadn’t abandoned his project and had kept releasing consistent updates, money would’ve never been an issue. From the very beginning, he said his game was just a hobby, which is why he never released updates quickly — and nobody complained, because we all understood it was a hobby.
But about a year or two ago, he announced that he’d become a full-time developer, and everyone was genuinely happy for him. He could’ve made great money from this game.
Guess what happened? He made promises, but never kept a single one of them — and then just vanished without a word.

I discovered 2 of the best games from F95 and once in a while like between 3-4 months i threw some money to their patreon to show some appreciation so F95 can be a good place for your game to get exposure and potential supporter like me.
If a game doesnt have much support its not always the community fault, in this case personally as much as i liked the game long time ago i just dislike how Hopegaming handle his game, this game strong point is the story and then he added a stupid sandbox that barely has anything to do with the main plot,crappy animation, long time of development and so on so its not strange at all if not much people in their right mind would support this game.
I you lost something in my msg, my point was to say that he doesn't own you anything if you don't support him, and you are not rly right to complain about it ieither....
But you are right with the take that he should have said something but the truth is, HE DID...And it doesn't take time to verify this, its on his patreon, you can't miss it....So, if you were a true fan, or even better just a supporter you would have known that....

Good story man, but sorry, the Patreon is closed to subscription since one years, does help your credibility.... You didn't like the game, you liked the story and that is pretty much it from what I understand....

I think F95 is a huge visibility boost for adult game devs. Sure, it's a pirate site, but this is still where people interested in adult games go to discover games. Where would we do that if not here ? By checking every adult patreon ? How would we know if we would enjoy a game if not for the reviews and the presentation, and the ability to play it here ?
All the devs I have supported, and I have supported quite a lot of them, I have discovered them here. And I very very probably wouldn't have if not for the latest updates page on F95.
If there are devs that believe F95 is harmful to them, I really think they're wrong because the visibility that this website brings far outweighs the people that will discover by chance your game and pay for it without knowing what they're going to get.
If TDF is done, it's not because of money issue (and it was making pretty good money anyway) but because personal reasons and issues.

Look the view on this game here, look at the sales on steam and on the subscriber on his Patreon and tell he made good amount of money over the years...But yeah, you are right about the reason of his departure.
i never said that f95 is arming devs, i said that ppl that are pirating the game without supporting it does...
I agree that f95 bring visibility, but visibility only matters if it leads to real support ... you/we are not F95 , its not up to the site to subscribe or to buy the game it's up to us....
To resume
F95 = visibility tool
Users = responsibility to support what they enjoy
Complaining without supporting = hypocrisy
that was my whole point here, imo its basic logic, ut maybe i'm missing somthing idk.

I absolutely LOVED the banter between the LI's and our cryptic MC. Some of the romantic possibilities were written very well. Yes, the lack of lewd became frustrating -- as blue-balling slow-burn does -- but I thoroughly enjoyed it. At times, especially after Isobel and Gracie made up, the dialogue and story-running became a bit much, as if the Dev really didn't know what to do next (and that unfortunately seems to have come true!) -- but I do hope that, after dev's journey through whatever made them stop, dev will decide to continue this delightful trip. So many possibilities! So much to be discovered! I look forward to your next decision, "hopes"!

There are just a little over 200 subscribers on Patreon. And I'm willing to bet most of the subs are of the lower tiers. That's simply the nature of the beast.
Fir Steam sales, we can use the quick rule of thumb of 20-60x sales vs reviews to guesstimate (let's be generous and use the high end figure) ~300 reviews x 60 = 18k copies sold.
Let's be extra generous and assume the sales figures is 30k copies if we include other platforms.
Don't forget the platforms and the government take a big chunk of the the gross revenue.
Patreon sub revenue is simply not high enough to make developing the game an ongoing main and only job.
Steam (and other platforms) revenue is a one-time boost. One buys the game for a one time fee, not a subscription. And sales has pretty much died off completely. That one time boost will cover a handful years of living expense. And that's it. And don't forget, we are being extra generous here. The real sales figure is probably closer to 10k copies sold instead of the 30k we've been assuming.
TL;DR - This game isn't making Hopes "plenty of money". Anybody who thinks so is a sheltered flower living off mommy and daddy and has no clue how the real world works.
Besides, there is zero evidence either way whether Hopes lost interest, or not. Claiming it as "clearly" speaks more about how unscrupulous you would be in a similar situation, than what's really happening.
He has 222 subs while doing nothing at all for 2+ years, why do you assume his sub number at this point has any significance? How much subs did he had 3 years ago? Are people supposed to sub to him forever no matter how much hes ghosting his subs and no matter that there are no updates since forever?
Its the other way around, he is still making money despite putting no work in for ages, so the assumption that he could earn good money while putting in the work isnt wrong.
There is no way to look at this in any kind of positive way or excuse his buisness practice for the dev, at least not since he put it on steam and turned it into a buisness. He can of course still stop development for whatever reasons he want but to claim it was because of a lack of support is just ridiculous.
And even than he should have just said that its abandoned/on hold/whatever instead of ghosting his patreons and whatever it is hes doing at the moment (if he does anything) and all off this after a big accouncement how he is going to become a fulltime dev lol
