Let's face it, if the download links are being sent to the "loyal tier" supporters by DM, the dev must surely be sending individual copies with unique identifiers, so if it does leak, he'd be able to find out who it was and kick them. So if they're in that group, they probably wouldn't consider it worth their while leaking it.
I don't think so lol

We're not talking about the screenshots, we're talking about the game.
I know, but it seems you misunderstand something. I commented on info given out by obviously high tier patrons in some messages in the thread. So I cannot share the new update, no matter if I wanted to or not, since I do not have it! I simply commented on the given info.

If BBP really goes to these lengths with the updates, it will hurt him in the long run more than it helps. You catch more mice with bacon than vinegar. If your game is good, supporters will come, no matter the leaks.
Take a look at "Pale Carnations", where the Devs take the sharing of new updates within 3 days on average (often even earlier) with quite some grace. You will not find discussions like here in the thread and they have sizeable patron support with a lot of goodwill for development times.

Bobbyboy currently is cutting into his own flesh. An overly long update cycle with some questionable excuses should be calmed by some generosity, to rebuild lost trust and goodwill. Now going the draconian way will alienate a lot of potential supporters sitting on the fence if they should become patrons.
In the short term, BBP might stop the "bleeding", imagined or real, with such measures, but in the long term a lot of potential supporters will think twice about commiting.

Too much work just to kick the loyal supporters who've paid over 100$, I don't think Dev will do that even if they leak it. Popular games gets leaked all the time as soon as they're released. It doesn't really matter much.

Why not? It's been done before by devs wanting to try preventing leaks. And I have no idea on numbers, but it's probably not too many who qualify for the update based on that loyalty criteria, all it would take would be dropping a file into each file with a different line of code in it - he's already sending the links by DM, so it's the perfect opportunity to customise what's being sent.
