I liked this game for the way of its storytelling, smooth steps of characters' corruption, events and circumstances design, connections between situations and characters choices in dialogs... but in that so called "Halloween update" - there are none of that. It's just primitive 1-scene story which don't have any connections with main story events. The only thing which is good there is just animations mechanic, which become slightly better: still not as good as it should be to enjoy it on replays, but just not that eyes-cutting-awful as before.
In my opinion that Halloween scene was just a waste of time, it's sad it just took resources from the posibility of producing the continue of the main game story...

Dev said that chapter 7 will appear somewhere in late January 2025, but taking in mind that his updates are quite often have a habbit to appear much later than it was promised then take it as slight hope to see chapter 7 somewhere in late February-March.
Looking back on previous charpters - I bet there will be 1 half-hot scenes, and a bunch of dreamings of characters about events which got not connection to ingame reality but got renders wasted on it, and some events which were happening for real in the game, but they will be interupted by characters on the most interesting point, against player's will, as it was happeing almost in every scenes before.

When it's comes to the viruses. I had similar problem with some other renpy games when it came to virus alerts. It turns out that some cheap antivirus programs can mistakenly flag these games as viruses because of the log feature. Renpy read computer data for the log and cheap software will flag this as a threat.

It's a false positive, assuming it's from my links on Patreon. I went on my friend's computer and downloaded it and sure enough Windows Defender says it's a virus. Disabled Windows Defender, downloaded it and scanned with Windows Defender and it says no virus's found. I suspect it is doing this as a precaution probably due to many reports from the actually infected versions of my game that are out there on various sketchy websites. I'm not sure what I can do about this aside from paying to have the exe signed. I'll see what I can do.

For anyone in doubt - here is VT check.
The file is clean. One detection out of all (1/65) is a false hit and no need to pay attention to it.

I noticed that there was a delay in showing renders even after I turned off transitions. So I opened the script.rpy file and discovered that the dev manually added a short pause between each render. Thankfully, it was just a matter of a quick find+replace. My text editor reported 379 pauses.

It's not about turning off AV on any detection. If it is known and confirmed to be a false detection it is possible to disable AV for that situation (as in this case). AV is not infallible either.
But it's obviously everyone's decision. Ideally it's to check elsewhere

I searched for "pause 0.4" (without the quotes) and just replaced it with nothing.

Windows Defender occasionally throws a wobbly with ren'py games, especially if they have a custom program icon for some reason.

I downloaded from patron and I never got a virus warning. This sort of thing happens to a lot of renpy games.

Yes, it happens every few months with Windows Defender.

This Halloween side-story was... underwhelming, to say the least. There is no real "branching" in terms of picking Kathryn's partner for the night - based on the theme, I was expecting to be able to choose between a Vampire, Werewolf, and well, Frankie. You know, the staples of all Halloween mythos? Instead, either you do Frankie, or it's one giant nothingburger of a "story".

Wholly unnecessary waste of resources & time. And can we please stop animating every single lewd action? I'd much rather that the animations are reserved for actual sex stuff, so the time isn't "wasted" on animating Kathryn swaying her ass.

Not sure why game devs are obsessed with doing holiday specials. Personally I find they break immersion and are generally disappointing when you're expecting a story update. I'll skip this one and wait for the next normal update.
