Let's face it, if the download links are being sent to the "loyal tier" supporters by DM, the dev must surely be sending individual copies with unique identifiers, so if it does leak, he'd be able to find out who it was and kick them. So if they're in that group, they probably wouldn't consider it worth their while leaking it.
Who will pay those clowns if everyone is blocked because of a leak? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Why not? It's been done before by devs wanting to try preventing leaks. And I have no idea on numbers, but it's probably not too many who qualify for the update based on that loyalty criteria, all it would take would be dropping a file into each file with a different line of code in it - he's already sending the links by DM, so it's the perfect opportunity to customise what's being sent.
But even if there was a leak from the payer! He has the full right to dispose of the purchased property since he paid for it, the developer should not worry about who, where and when disposed of the purchased property with his own funds. The developer does not like that the game was leaked, this is his problem: Make it so that people play, that is, without transferring the file and others cannot dispose of it before the appointed time.As they say, no one has canceled the rules of buying and selling! The developer should not be triggered by the fact that someone will dispose of the purchased file before the appointed, released time. As they say, no one has canceled the rules of buying and selling! The developer should not be triggered by the fact that someone will dispose of the purchased file before the appointed, released time. Let the developer say thank you to those who still pay money for it on each update and not for a fully made game. It's ridiculously simple! For example, this is how I bought a car from the developer with my own money, and he will tell me when and where I have the right to drive it.

No because it is easy to manipulate renpy to change or remove the unique identifier

The majority of players won't be aware this is a thing, won't know where to look for it, what they're looking for, how to edit it, and/or they won't want to mess with the files for fear of breaking their game.

No one playing the loyalty release had to pay anything more than they already had. It was sent out to anyone who had already paid $100 total since November 2023 and had pledged for at least a total of six months or more(doesn’t have to be consecutive). These guys are helping me catch bugs, grey screen errors, typos, wrong sayers etc. I normally do this myself at this stage of development before it goes out to first release. I felt like this was a nice reward for the most loyal supporters I have, plus I get some help bug testing.
I am not criticizing anyone. Anyone who wants can pay $100, anyone who wants can pay $200, it does not concern me. I was just surprised to see such a high priced game on this site for the first time. If you notice, I only commented on the price of the game. I did not comment on the content of the game or the scenes in any way. :)

I think what he was trying to say is that it's not "priced" at $100 - as in, there isn't a $100 tier that it's been released to. Instead, it's a "loyalty" offering, to those who have been signed up for a certain length of time, during which their total paid adds up to $100 or more. So there might be a $1 tier, for which you'd need to have been signed up for 100 months, or a $20 tier, where you'd need to have been signed up for 6 months (minimum time limit) and in which case would have paid $120.

Mario Kart 80$, The East Block $100.
That would be a valid complaint if you were handing over $100 and getting the update in return, but that's just not the case. It's basically a subscription service, where the initial release is available to "long-term" subscribers first so they have a little reward for their loyalty, and can help bug test. It's like they are the beta testers for the game.

It doesn't change the fact that $100 isn't the whole game, for long-time subscribers, the whole game will end up costing over $2,000...
It's way too expensive. Even $80 for the whole game is expensive.

Yep. Also on Wednesday it will only be $16. In a week it will only be $8 and will likely be leaked here in between that time. Some people need to have a little patience.

It's up to the individual to decide what it's worth and what to spend their own money on. If you think that $100 over 6 months is too expensive for you, then don't do it.

There really needs to be a pinned post somewhere that explains what Patreon* is...

It's easy to just glance at it and say you're paying for a complete game, but that's really not the case. Patrons pay to support a dev while s/he is developing their game, and as a reward, they get access to updates as they are released, with higher-value supporters getting earlier access as part of an improved perks package.

If you just want to hand over cash as a one-off and get the game in return, you'll need to wait for it to be completed and buy it on Steam or somewhere, at which point it will be a price much lower than $100, I'm sure. That's when you can compare it to buying a copy of Mario Kart or whatever, because until then, the two things being compared are not the same.

*other subscription models are also available

its also a niche product (genre) within a niche product (renpy avns) and there is no large studio production behind it. thinking of this game as a "game" is kind of not accurate. we're not really buying a game so to speak on the patreon. its more like enjoying the dev's hobby and supporting them to keep on.
