This was at least the 2nd...maybe 3rd reboot the dev abandoned.

For all the game's flaws it was one of the first I discovered here so yeah, I wish it would have finally been finished too. But the Dev has a pattern of flaking out. At this point even if he came back I wouldn't trust him to commit.

Would anyone else be able to take on this project and potentially finish it? I’m asking since I have no idea how that process works and/or how difficult it’d be to do so. I really appreciated the renders and the mind control+incest aspect in the game so I was just curious.

Possible yes, but nobody has take it up and try to finishid it. Reasons for this may be different, but I think that most prominent one are:

• It is quite a hassel to recreate the assets used in the game
• Same goes for the story and visions of the dev, mostly he and only he knows what story he had for the game
• Would be, I assume, a lot would say the "original" game was so much better and his continuation is shit - regardless of the quality of his work.
• The dev would "only" be the one that continuation the story of another one, not doing something he envision alone

So, I think there is not much satisfaction and acknowledgement in compare to your own game idea in it and it is also more complicated.

Maybe closer to four. Before there was "The Gift Reloaded" there was...."the Gift" which also sat abandoned for about a year before Reloaded came along and restarted from scratch.

The way I understand this, all we have is rumours. I feel like I've heard it all. From personal/family problems, to conflicts in the dev team about NTR content, to the main dev just saying "fuck it" and leaving. The problem is that trying to fish out truth from nothing but rumours is like looking for a hay-looking needle in a haystack - where the hay mysteriously is also attracted to magnets...

I worked a bit with the guy off and on. The reason is actually pretty complex, yet simple.
Let's start with the shift from "The Gift" to "The Gift:Reloaded"

Halfway through making "The Gift" He decided there are alot of things he wished to change. He wasn't satisfied when looking back on it. This led him to scrap the original and start back from square 1.

Something similar happened with Reloaded, he wasn't satisfied with how it was turning out. You combine this issue with Patreon cracking down on incest content, as well as other depictions of illegal sexual acts like rape. (and i'm certain there were quite a number of outside factors)

I can't say I'm shocked he decided it wasn't worth it anymore.
