This business sucks, these guys can't keep up with one game, so they decide to make another one at the same time. Who gets screwed? Us, because for them it's better to have two games, it means more money and the readers have to wait for small and slow updates.
This has nothing to do with Greyvale Rivalry. The slowdown is purely due to hardware limitations. We’ve rendered over 40 animations for this epsiode alone. All animations are now being created at 60 FPS with a minimum of 240 frames each — that’s nearly 3 to 4 times more frames than in previous episodes. We completed the static renders and the story 1–2 months ago. Since then, we’ve been focused exclusively on rendering animations. Greyvale isn’t causing any delays; we’re simply waiting for the rendering process to finish.

60FPS is really a great idea for a simple VN. right?

Question tho why 60FPS.. It's not a game per say. Why not just 24 fps with added slight motion blur? More cinematic, faster to render? I don't get the 60fps hype in AVN. Other VN had 60 Fps option and it was worse, lagged, skipped frames, but 30fps version was playing smoothly. Don't forget youre dealing with unstable Renpy in the end.

Because a lot of devs fall into the same technology trap. To paraphrase a famous fictional mathematician, they were "so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should".

If people weren't so greedy, there wouldn't be wars in this world, there wouldn't be poverty, I wish I didn't live in such a world...

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since the final status update. We weren't planning to post anything, but we've received so many questions via DM that we thought we'd answer the most frequently asked ones here.

We'll start with the question, Why is it taking so long?

The obvious answer is that there isn't any way to make our rigs render faster. Since we went all out with one of our scenes in this episode, that's what's taking so long. The Haley scene currently has around 20 animations, and we're still working on the rest.

What about the static renders? They are all done. The last scenes could use a little post-production work, but nothing that would take more than a day.

What about the release date? We hate giving any dates, but July seems very likely if nothing goes wrong, which is something we don't have a track record for.

What about the Greyvale Rivalry? We finished another scene, then stopped to render the animations for 'The Grey Dream'. Overall, 3.5 scenes remain for the end of episode one.

That's everything. Thank you for being so patient. We'll share another post when we start beta testing.

The Greys

With the amount of time they need to render animations, I am starting to think if this game needs animations at all. It is already a month...
