last i heard on patreon i think he said by beginning of august. but not sure if it still valid
That would be for the last update long before from last year. For this next update, the release schedule will probably come out in the next month or later.

I think this has been a game of two halves (to use a football analogy).

The first 3.5 years were truly extraordinary, with rapid progress and a clear concept/theme. That got us all the way through Release 13 (kind of the conclusion to the whole Rachel story). The next planned release was the Nina/Fay story, which would have been another leap forward, exploring in more detail two major and popular characters.

This was Fall of 2022. So much content. And so well done.

Then, for some reason, Nina and faye were abandoned, and instead the last three years of updates (for me at least) have been slow and far between, and feel like trudging through a mire. Not the kind of rapid story development and updates we had been used to, but mostly two bloated arcs: Pride and President and Many Hands, plus another tangent--Mycock's Manor. I don't know how to explain it other than to say it felt like the game was becoming less about the individual girls and more about big tar baby plots. I don't understand why Dev did not continue with the same type of content for the girls not yet covered in detail? It was a winning formula that, beyond some more recent effort with Liz, seems to have been largely abandoned.

Don't get me wrong. Anyway you slice it, this is still a great game. I would just urge the Developer to get back to what made it great. The first 3.5 years earned a lot of loyalty. The developer had (and still has) lots of credit in the bank.

This is just my view and it is not meant in a mean spirited way. Rather as constructive criticism.

The answer is rather simple: patreon subscription model. The game has slowly but surely morphed from the devs vision to a collection of commisioned art-pieces. If an author of any type of art (not just NSFW stuff) has to ask their audience what they should make next, they're no longer the author. The plot is lost.

It's certainly a double-edged sword. Yes you rake in more money - at the risk of your project going off the rails. And what's more, if you give people the illusion of control and they find out their idea's are not the ones being developed, they may throw their toys out of the pram and walk away in disgust, for no real reason.

I think the Dev more or less acknowledged that introducing the fundraiser - while greatly entertaining in itself - caused a number of continuity issues. These are now being fixed. He indicated the v0.17 updates should bring the story back in line, after which chapter 3 will see a return to the more linear development. I hope that's how it will pan out.

As for "input" in the game... I trust this Dev's idea's enough to forgo polls and questionnaires. Mykock's Manor was fun, but it is something I could do without if it meant the development of the game would speed up. I'd be happy to continue sponsoring just for some exclusive content... and a game of excellent quality.

The fundraiser bored the crap out of me when I played it. I hope future upgrades contain the option to skip the fundraiser all together for my next play-through.

I'm a bit biased since I think the fundraiser is the best content in the game.

I can understand why people are a bit frustrated since it's a lot of work mostly focused on one girl (Maxine) and outside of the normal format of the game.

With that said, I do think the people complaining about Mycock's Manor are a bit off the mark. Most of Mycock's Manor is just cosmetic, with the patrons simply choosing the outfits/uniforms/costumes moving forward. There is some plot development recently, like the choice over Sam's sister and the nurse plot, but I don't think that is majorly impacting the plot, merely details. There is some merit in being concerned about dev time -- could they have not just made a patreon poll with screenshots? -- but I don't know enough about their development process to guess how long the two are in comparison.

Mycock's Manor uses far fewer images per line of dialogue, so I don't think it's taking any significant time away from development. It might even be a net win if it's being used for low stakes practice on playhome for the extra dev that has been brought on.

If axing mycock manor removed more than a week or 2 from an update cycle I'd be pretty surprised.

The Fundraiser
While Maxine was the leading lady, Ada was co-star, and there were notable supporting roles. Each day ten other ladies joined in, some just for a day, others for all five days. The synergistic effects were quite pronounced, advancing the overall plot. It will require the player to actually read all the text instead of just skipping to the sexy bits to appreciate just how liberal the girls attitudes are becoming. Many girls now consider it normal to either be naked or see nudity in public. Patricia went from stopping her daughter wearing questionable attire to making her simulate nudity all day. Ruth is getting pushed by more females to be less prudish, taking considerable pressure off the Headmaster. All in all a good deal closer to the Headmaster being able to publicly restore the girls attention ;)

Mycock's Manner

These patreon polls are for trivial decisions, which slutty outfit do the supporters prefer. It's not like the developer is giving up creative control. We are in no danger of a Klingon landing a TIE fighter and enchanting an army of fast zombies to attack the girls. The developer will need to produce a good portion of the picture even if only they were choosing. Making images in Honey Select is not like producing Avatar, and the putting them all in a simple Ren'Py without plot and few variables to track is trivial. The text almost writes itself, being the questions the developer has about the choices they face. I would be surprised if an experience developer took more than two extra days to go from sample pics to gamified poll. Still two days on this is two days not spent on the main game, so where's the benefit? Firstly, this is simple, a nice break for the developer from the growing complexity of the main game, much better than taking an actual break, or starting a second game to alternate with. Secondly, it makes the supporters feel involved and appreciated. Lastly, I for one appreciate a bunch of different girls prancing around in less and less clothes :D

In a twisted way the whole story made sense, with a beautiful suspension of disbelief, but this part broke with the immersion. It felt like a quick and rushed exposé of as many girls as possible to satisfy the (perceived?) demand of the patreons for sexy nudity. Even the text was below par: mainly flavor text to persuade the players that an endangered animal would be a perfectly normal reason for girls to go ahead with exposing themselves way beyond their comfort zone. Gone is the subtle persuasion of the headmaster, the manipulation of their feelings, his "inescapable" truths that make them move their comfort zone ever forward. Just throw in a cute animal and call it a day.

It will be very difficult, if not impossible, to get back to the normal flow of things. Case in point: the see-through clothes in the lunchroom; why would they care? They've shown more flesh during the fundraiser. It makes zero sense for them to be upset, yes? This story-arc is already ruined.

This. The story was jarring. There was a loss of the tease aspect, and a loss of personal attention to individual girls. The fundraiser would have made more sense if it had been limited to Maxine and maybe Ada. Their story. How serious was she about the cause? How serious was Ada about success in her career as a photographer? Looping in all the other girls was a mistake. (okay, "IMO" it was a mistake)

The see through clothes things is also a terrible idea. (IMO)

Yes, The Fundraiser should have happened latter in the chapter, with more of the girls having personally advanced, and this is a little jarring Boblet. Eventually the chapter will be completed, and I expect more conditions will need to be met to start The Fundraiser.

That said, only Maxine was committed to pushing boundaries solely for the pseudo-phallus, every other participant had other reasons, solidarity friendship and loyalty being common. Other reasons include shamelessness (Amy already posed for a magazine) and self interest (Debbie wanted to oil other girls). Maxine pushed boundaries as guided by the Headmaster, while he also manipulated Ada. Maxine opened the door and others entered. The group created a feed back loop of support and emboldenment. Looping in all the other girls was a essential for this Boblet. It should also be noted that it was not the same ten volunteers each time, and two girls were forced (Arabella simulated and Ada nude).

As to see-through in the lunchroom making zero-sense, be careful not to look for holes in porn logic. Let look for some (non-zero) sense to help you until the chapter is finished and the flow is fix. Aside from the timing being off, being forced to do something feels different to volunteering to do something, especially if the volunteering is both rewarded, and excused by a 'good cause'. Strength in numbers could also be a factor, eleven girls distribute attention more than just two. Lastly not all girls volunteered for all days, but all girls will have lunch duty.

As an aside, I wouldn't have gone with the disposable lunchroom outfits chosen. Too much exposed skin for a hygienic kitchen, full body latex would have been better :giggle:
