So, the tags say male protag, but the description makes it sound like a fem protag, which is it?

You start as a male and get to read a lot of text as him, then you're changed into a female and play the rest of the game that way. So it should be tagged as a female protag.

The link on the first page takes you to the TFgame site which is where I found the hint for it but I could never figure it out so I just gave up on playing this. Um, never mind just went and checked to see if its still there and the hint is gone far as I can see. Found it somewhere else so just gonna post it here for you.

For all those stuck on the 6 switches puzzle in the tower, there is a note outside the tower on the ground that you can examine. It reads, among other things:
5L-1 2R-2
6U-3 1D-4
3U-5 4D-6
Each of the switches has a number of cat statues next to it to let you know which number it is. The numbers are as follows:
1 4
2 5
3 6
So, to open the door you hit the switches in the following order and from the right side of the column (as noted by the letter designations L, R, U, and D for Left, Right, Up, and Down):
1st: hit the 5th switch from the left side of it
2nd: hit the 2nd switch from the right side of it
3rd: hit the 6th switch from the top of it
4th: hit the 1st switch from the bottom of it
5th: hit the 3rd switch from the top of it
6th: hit the 4th switch from the bottom of it
